Black velcro strap on walking boot

Hi,
I’m no authority by far but have my 2 cents on the black moon boot as it’s been called. I have a hairline fracture on my right ankle, it’s called a maleollous fibular fracture. It hurt like crazy obviously right after I injured myself. I stupidly still went to work and furthered the injury. Went to an orthopedist and he prescribed the BOOT. So for 4 weeks I’ve worn it in and around the house not putting any weight on the injury, wore it to bed for the same amount of time but loosened the straps to make it comfortable. I was rolling around at home and to go out in a rolling chair, lifesaver by the way a bit of a headache for my loving wife but a great thing to have. We all heal differently, generally 4-6 weeks heal time supposedly. I’m in my 5th week, boot on and up and walking with a cane and barely any pain, this of course due to reassesment by my doctor. I needed to be sure I wouldn’t re-injure my ankle. Anyhow long story, but the boot is a good thing and great for recovery, don’t tighten straps too much and wear it to bed for major support... after 3 weeks or so you should feel able to want to walk on it believe it or not!
I drive for a living and the BOOT helped me heal quicker! I forgot to mention that I didn’t have surgery...
Hope this will help someone who may be hesitant about the boot.

Hi Marc. I had a trimelleor fracture with dislocation on Dec 23. I had surgery on Dec 24. I was in a splint for 2 wks, then put in a boot for 6 wks. I hated the boot. I hardly ever wore it. Never wore it to bed. Now it's been four week, and I'm full weight bearing, without the boot. I can now wear regular shoes, but sneakers.I can walk with pain as much as I can bear. Its been a long and awful journey, but I'm almost there. I want to be completely pain free, and I want to walk normally. I think I'm going good, but I want to be whole again.

Marc. When I said it's been four weeks, I meant, it's been 16 weeks.

Hi Marc. I have been diagnosed with osteonecrosis of the talus. Part of the is dead. I'm going 6 weeks now. The first couple weeks were rough. I wanted to chuck the thing. Yeah the straps too tight my toes would go to sleep. The thing that bugs me is the top strap. It won't stay in place because of the bubble & the metal bar turns straight. Then it ends up closer to my ankle. 3 weeks ago added a stimulator to the mix. I have totally had enough of it. Stupid cords. Thing beeping at me. We'll see next week if either has been helping the issue. Only just a little over 2 months left to go. I can tell the difference when wearing & not wearing the boot. I still get some jolts once in awhile. Also the boot is better than the alternative.
