Blackouts on sertraline?

Posted , 2 users are following.

Hi. Has anyone experienced blackout on sertraline? My teenage son took sertraline for 8 months - usual symptoms starting off. In Jan doc tried to withdraw sertraline but didnt work out well at all - very bad suicide ideation, anxiety, ocd, so son gradually put back on. He is now having blackouts about 10 - 15 times/ day. EEG and MRI clear. Not sure if seizures from adverse reaction to meds or psychogenic from trauma of withdrawal. extremely worrying. Anyone any experience. Thanks

So sorry for your son you both must be terrified, I have had side effects but nothing as terrible as that, is there no advice from gp or the hospital as to what to do next.

are you both in touch with any outside help.

i would personally keep phoning for ambulance so something had to be done, can't keep leaving him like that.

i wish you both well and hopefully someone can give you some answers, keep us informed.

Thanks so much. He's under mental health care team and gp. Had trip to a & e other day but was so awful it made seizures worse. Thats why we're not sure if they're psychogenic seizures. Certainly seem quite situational. Just trying to check out the sertraline angle too. Just feel so helpless and unsure. PG it'll be ok soon. Cheers for your comments.
