Bladder / low abdominal pain

Hi all
I am not sure if this prostate related, but thought I’d enquire.
In the last 6 weeks I’ve had a dribbling issue, like after I stopped urinating I discovered afterwards I wetted myself, I didn’t think much of it at the time. About 7 days ago, I started getting a dull ache feeling around my gentiles base of my penis & pain radiating about 3 inches diagonally up left (as you look at me) my right, when pressing. My balls seem very tender, as well. I had trouble starting to urinate and been going to the toilet much more often, like every hour. The pain is fluctuating, better when get up in the morning and throughout the day can get worse.
I did a GP phone call, suspected UTI and placed me on 7 day course of Macrobid (Nitrofurantoin).
I am 2 days in difficult to say, if any better or not. I haven’t taken any painkillers for the discomfort.
I am very early 50’s, my father had prostate cancer (they removed it), so does this place me high risk? (I prefer not to enquire with him about this past event).
If this course of Antibiotics isn’t successful, then GP says prostrate investigation will follow.
What tests can I expect with that if it is prostrate related.
Thanks

Hi All
An update on what occurred with me and maybe some people can offer some advice on what I should be asking at next GP session.
The first set of antibiotics Nitrofurantoin didn’t work, went back to the GP, I got the rectal finger examination and my urine on the dip test (done in the surgery) flagged infection, she said my prostrate seemed little inflamed. I was placed on 7 days of Ciprofloxacin, with a review in weeks time.
Cipro kicked in, the burning peeing has gone and frequency of going to pee went back to normal by day 3, felt ok. I saw the GP after 7 days on Cipro and she given me another week supply, but said 2 weeks is the NHS guideline maximum for Cipro. She said my urine lab test stated no bacterial growth.
The GP stated once I finish the Cipro, they want to take bloods and another inspection of the prostate, which seems to be the main focus, as she is concerned why this has happened in the first place.
I am on day 8 of Cipro, I am now getting the dull ache pain in lower abdomen again, like I want to go to pee again, which has now deflated me somewhat, as I thought on the road to recovery.
The investigation continues.

Welcome to my world.
In Oct I had a similar dull pain.
My GP ordered a urine test that showed hematuria (microscopic blood).
There are many reasons why blood would be present.
He suggested I see a urologist to rule out cancers (plural): kidney and bladder.
I did a MRI kidney (not cheap as in Australia it is not covered by the health service OR insurance).
That found NO cancer.
Then I had a cystoscopy which is a catheter that has a camera at one end placed in the penis.
For this I demanded a general anaesthetic (hearing that local anaesthetics do not mask the pain).
I got the general, felt nothing and it was over in <15 mins.
No cancer in the bladder!
The urologist thinks it may be a blood vessel issue but is unsure.
HE is however sure that whatever it is, it isn't life threatening.
So for peace of mind, I suggest the above process may be useful.
Two more things:
URAL or CITRAVESCENT sachets, in power form. I was promised a lot
of buring and blood after the cystoscopy and feared peeing. But I know
the power of alkalinisers and they very much lowered the burning, which
went away after two days.
Good luck

Many thanks for this.
I have to say I haven't been dealing with this very well. I haven't slept at all, but maybe time for the pain killers now.
Things here in UK, don't move fast on the NHS, so to go through this over a period of time frightens me.

First question mate...have you red my original post? If so you should know by now that counting on your GP is waste of time. He/she is clueless. Also she is lying to you about Ciprofloxacin. I have done 5 weeks of Ciprofloxacin back in November 2021. NHS guidance is max 6 weeks. Ciprofloxacin didn't help me. I felt better but symptoms came back few weeks later. Also testing your urine during or up to 2 weeks after you finished your treatment is pointless. You must wait about 3-4 weeks before you retest. Besides urine have nothing to do with prostate. Again waste of time. Your GP is making all wrong decisions. You suffer and bacteria is multiplying. What bacteria have they found in the first place so they gave you antibiotics? That info is crucial!

Hi Michael
How was your trip, was it worth it & was it successful you think?
I am considering going to a private specialist, to get to the source of the problem, I have to address if have an infection, I think in these matters you can't wait.
