Bladder Neck Incision Surgery Feedback PLEASE HELP!

Hello all,

I have followed this site for years. The time has come to where I must make a decision about going through with a bladder neck incision surgery. I AM SCARED! I am 41 and my Uro says that I should be back to normal in about two weeks, they he has never seen someone incontinet from this procedure, and the only real thing to be aware of is possible Retro.

I have seen many people pos ton here that they were having issues months later: urgency, slow flow again and so on.

Can some of you who have had the surgery please share all yu can with me about what to really expect, AND if the issues you experienced after the surgery did FINALLY subside? How is quality of life, erections and so on. My Q max without meds was a 6 with flow max .80 got up to 15.

I am considering the surgery because my DR. says if I d not then I will soon not be able to pee without having to self cath.

I beg of all of you to please share your experience and if the issues did or did not finally resolve.

thank you so much for all your time and help.

Joel

Dont do it. You will 100% have retro. And you will have incontinence for atleast a year, your life will be hell. I had it one year ago and wish I went to few private specialist and gather more information on what else can be done. Not all doctors do bni same, some butcher you, most butcher you, and some focus on nerve sparring

OMG! I was told it was not that big of issue or surgery. How long ago was yours done and how long did it take for you to recuperate?

Let me thank you so much for taking the time to help me.

Also, was yours a turp and BNI as I am supposedly just having two cuts at 5 and 7 no prostate tissue at all. Your thoughts?

      Thank you again.

I'm 37. I developed bladder neck contracture after a turp to relieve severe bph symptoms. I had a BNI to open up the bladder neck. I was a little sore for a while, but otherwise i felt great. No incontinence. Could finally get a good nights sleep. I do have retro but that was a trade off I was willing to make to not feel exhausted and irritated constantly.

Thank you so very much for replying to me. I am going crazy with worry.

Do you know what kind of knife they used by chance. Laser, Plasma button, cold?

Were you back on you feet in just a couple weeks or months?

Again I thank you very much. You actually made me smile!

Mine was done with the plasma button. Because bladder neck contracture after turp can be a troublesome complication, my doctor had me wear a foley catheter for 2 weeks after the surgery to ensure I healed well. That was not a lot of fun, but after I got that out, I felt pretty good.

I had soreness for a couple of months, but otherwise any of the BPH symptoms I had been feeling were greatly reduced or gone entirely.

I know a lot of guys really worry about the retro, but it doesnt bother me and my sex life is actually better now because I have more energy since I'm not getting up 6-7 times a night to pee.

Good luck. Hope everything works out for you.

Ofcourse they all say that, but for 6 month i had urge to use bathroom around 30 times a day, after masterbation it would be more like 50 times. Then i was given muscle relaxer tablets which helped with urge but with side affects. You absolutely cannot lift heavy, run or do any sports for a year if u want semi normal healing. Retro is the most awful thing, i dont understand why you accept this when there are techniques for bni that SOME doctors specifically research and perform in order to spare nerves and keep u okay. I had a small wart like growth on bn and had to get surgery as it was high chance of cancer, 9 month post op urgency is settled but retro is horrible so am looking at collagen injections or something to help with that, ps am only 31. Ask your doctor straight in the face, will I have retro? And watch his answer. Find top specialist by reading journals on bni nerve sparring topic.

I was promised ejaculate preserving bladder neck incision/resection surgery would fix the issue after a urolift didnt fix my retention problems & left me reliant on self catheterizing to pee.

The BNI surgery didnt fix my retention problems and left me with a dribble of semen. So a complete waste of time and money.

My advice is to have the full range of diagnostics available to get to the bottom of the problem before opting for surgery. And if you do the surgical route & want to retain antegrade ejaculation go with a surgeon who can demonstrate a track record of performing the Basir technique.

My surgeon, a famous professor in Switzerland screwed up both the urolift & BNI & has left me peeing through a tube & suffering multiple UTIs each year.

Hello guys, i am 9 days after BNI - bladder neck incision, TUIP. So far no improvement.

My urologist said that he will cut only bladder neck, he will not touch prostate. I'm happy,I have not retrograde ejaculation.

    My experience:

1st day - full of stress, have been "turned off" from waist till legs and i didn't feel anything. I've had spinal anesthesia. I've been watching everything on the screen while the urologist was doing his work. After that they put catheter in and took me to the recovery room for 1-2 hours (I don't know, after mizadolam the time flew very fast). I was okay.

But with the time, the anesthesia started release (AT 3 PM they gave me anesthesia, at 11 pm I started to notice that it's going off) and i've felt all night that i want to make a poop but that was due to catheter inside my bladder, i've got 2x painkillers to the veins and i've slept all night then. My bladder was flushed by 0,9 NaCL.

After that they left me with the catheter in for 2 days. In total i've spent 3 days in hospital. Every morning and evening the doctors came to me to see how i'm doing. I've been discharged on 3rd day with reccomendations.

So far without any improvement (only flow,a little bit better.) My main symptoms were: Frequent urinary, low stream of urine and sometimes just a little bit of leak.

After surgery i didn't notice leaking or stuff like that. I'm waiting for symptoms to improve.
