Hi ladies, hope you are all well? I haven't posted for a while after my surgery. To cut a long story short I'm now 6 weeks post op. Been readmitted to hospital 3 times. The last 6 weeks I have spent 3 of them in hospital. I have a large hematoma that is slowly dissolving now. Bowel obstruction that resulted in having to get camera up and blockage broken and several rounds of bowel cleansers and enemas. And I'm still having problems peeing my bladder isnt emptuing and I'm now having to self catheterise to empty my bladder after I've been to toilet. Feels as if there is constantly something in the way as if I need to push by something.
Did any of you have these problems? I'm supposed to be returning to work in 2 weeks and the last thing I want is to be using catheters there xx

I was thinking about you the other day and wondered why we hadn't heard anything from you. I am so so sorry you are suffering with all these problems. You have been to hell and back. Are you starting to feel any better at all?
Can you get your sick leave extended until the bladder problem is sorted out?
I feel so guilty, I have sailed through the recovery, no problems, no pain and everything fixed. I have been very lucky. I go for my post op check up tomorrow and I want to hug and kiss my wonderful surgeon, better not as hubby will be with me! Mind you hubby might want to hug and kiss him too because hubby is really pleased with how I am now!
Are they going to give you any treatment for your bladder to sort it out? I take it you have been taught to second void and that is not working as you are having to use catheters.
Let me know how you are doing, and I really hope things improve soon.
Love

This may have nothing to do with it whatsoever but I have had to cut out certain foods to keep my bladder under control. I was going every 20 minutes when I first went for help. I could not take the pills because of the terrible side effects so I ventured into the world of self help with my surgeon's guidance. It meant keeping a bladder diary and food diary, trying one item at the a time to see if it upset the bladder. Also increasing the time between going to the toilet by a minute every few days to teach the bladder to hold onto the urine. Since the op I have had to start all over again to see if anything has changed. Luckily there are a few more things I can have now, but I am going very slowly.
My surgeon did my urology test as well so it was brilliant having the same person for my three problems.
You must feel that your bladder has taken over your life at the moment and I know this can be pretty bleak, but hold on it there, once you get to the Urologist I am sure they can help you, so don't despair.
Thank you for your good wishes for tomorrow, I am really looking forward to seeing the man that made me laugh out loud when I came round from my op, he was flapping his arms and saying 'tell me I am wonderful!'. Hee! hee! it is a very good job I had a catheter in or I would have peed myself! That reminds me if you get an appointment to have your urine voiding checked out, please don't get frightened or embarrassed, they are very kind and do all they can so that you don't feel uncomfortable. It is quite interesting seeing your results on the computer. As I had my surgeon - yes you guessed it, he had me in stitiches!
Let me know how you get on and if I can help in any way don't hesitate to ask.
Love
