bladder problems

Ive had an overactive bladder for years and have tried all sorts of medicines. I have a prolapsed bladder (stage 2) . About a year ago my dr. suggested I use a pessiary. Worked great for a few months. Then I started having what dr thought was a UTI BUT the culture always came back negative. Went for a urodynamic test which showed I was emptying my bladder. The urologist suggested a few things, one of which was a sling. Gynecologist doesnt want to do this as she said 50% of the time it always comes back. She suggested I try PTNS to strengfthen my bladder muscles. I went for 3 treatments and it seemed to help. Last Wed went for my 4th treatment and the next day I had the frequency so bad. On Friday I decided to take an antibiotic I had as it was burning when I urinated. Then I got nausious so stopped the antibiotic. Feel ok except for the constant urination. Calling the dr tomorrow. Dont know if I should continue this treatment. This is really getting to me. We were supposed to go out tonight to something I really wanted to go to, but all I do is go to the bathroom, so stayed home. Ive taken all sorts of probiotics, d Mannose, etc., ect. Im at my witts end. Any suggestions.

Hi, I would definitely have your dr do a urinalysis to make sure you don't have infection if you are feeling burning when peeing. I know when I started Pelvic floor physical therapy, the work done on me irritated my bladder at first but ultimately helped tremendously with decreasing urgency and frequency. So, I wonder if PTNS is the same- irritating to the bladder at first but ultimately helping. However, maybe it's just not an effective treatment for you. I really feel for you and can empathize with your frustration. I've cancelled many events due to not feeling like I could enjoy it. Talk to your doctor. Maybe what you are experiencing is common with PTNS and will get better over more treatments.
