Bladder spasms ?

I’m having some spasms that the doctor cannot figure out.  They did blood work and urine analysis.  Blood work cane back fine.  Some red blood cells in urine so did a CT scan and everything was fine (than large prostate.  The  median lobe is starting to go into bladder neck (but I have no problem urinating). Any thought if the median lobe might be causing the spasms?  (The spasms are mild to medium in strength.  and  sporadic.  Mostly right by the navel or two inches below an inch to the left of the navel).

Thanks

I developed bladder spasms about 10 years before my prostate began its BPH journey.  I don't think the two are related.  I take 5mg oxybutinen twice daily and it helps but does not totally eliminate the symptoms.  FWIW, I now have an enlarged median lobe and manage my symptoms with doxazosin (just increased from 2mg to 4).  Between the two issues, I pee frequently although generally only get up 2x per night.

Lee, did the increase dosage help your bladder spasm ? I am taking 4 mg as well. I did try to quit Doxazosin completely before in favor of CIC but experienced  bladder spasm as well. Hank

Also, what are the symptoms of a large median lobe ? Hank

I don't think the increased doxazosin dose  had any effect on my bladder spasms.  It did seem to improve emptying my bladder in the 5 hours or so before I was due to take my next pill and seemed to reduce my frequency after dinner.

My urologist told me I had a large median lobe when I asked about Urolift.  Otherwise I would not have known.  I was unaware of any symptoms specifically tied to the median lobe.

How did he know that you have a large median lobe, with cystoscope ? Hank

Thanks guy for your replies so far.  The CT showed that the walls of my bladder have thickened but that might be from before my HIFU procedure a year and a half ago when I had cancer AND a enlarged median lobe and had a terrible time trying to pee.  Since the procedure, I can still pee very well and sleep through the night without needing to get up not even once.  I was just thinking that maybe the median lobe was somehow irritating my bladder.  I didn’t have anything to base it on so that’s why I asked you guys.  The spasms are random, and they don’t make me feel like I need to run to the bathroom so it might not even be my bladder.  Just looking for possible answers

    Thanks, ES
