Bladder Spasms after Hysterectomy

Posted , 4 users are following.

Tomorrow will be week 5 of total hysterectomy. I got a uti that cleared up with antibiotics, but the last 2 weeks my bladder feels like there is pressure on it which comes and goes and I have the urge to go a lot.

They have tested me twice in the last 2 weeks and all tests come back negative, My obgyn said its bladder spasms from surgery and prescribed anti-spasms medicine which we will see if that helps. Anyone else had this happen, I start the meds tomorrow morning.

I was told that the pressure felt is down to the fact that everything inside has shifted, I didn't actually get this feeling but I did suffer from recurring UTI's for about 3 years after my hysterectomy, ask your obgyn if this pressure/spasms could be caused by shifting organs etc?

    Good luck

    hello

I had my tvh 18 mths ago but didn't experience this. you are still very early on in yiur recover to even expect to feel normal.

our organs do slightly shift but to not that extent that we feel it.

I'm sure it's all just healing that needs yo take place and tissues are still very weak and raw.

it takes at least 6 months to feel back to normal and feeling better in yourself.

yiur bladder has been pushed about and doesnt like being messed with. I was told by my professor Urogynacologist that when cleared by your surgeon to do pelvic floor exercises for ever as our floor will be weak after the uterus had been removed.

I know how yiur feel as I was the same but never experienced this, however no 2 ladies are the same in recovery and we are all so very different.

keep resting and take care hun.xx

Amazing the different stories, you say that organs don't shift enough to make you feel it, yet I was told the complete opposite that they could shift enough to feel it, weird.

yes correct..each lady will feel different.. I've not known anyone to feel organs actually move.

I did ask my consultant this and he said the amount of space the uterus takes is roughly the size of a small pear. our bowel and bladder will move slightly to fill the space.

as I said no 2 ladies are the same.

I have something going on like that also. I have pressure and pain and constipation.

Sometimes the pain on my lower right side is so bad I can hardly walk.
