Bladder sphincter inflamed by radiation

Posted , 3 users are following.

My bladder sphincter is inflamed with the radiation. I have been using Ibuprofen eight hourly to reduce the inflammation for over 24 hours. Yesterday morning when I awoke after sleeping deaply about 3am and this morning about 5am I had very great difficulty starting at all. Other times if I am prompt I get started more easily with a poor flow. I don't know what the options are. I have read of others who have had treatment suspended because of side effects. That is my worst nightmare. Anyone experienced this problem. My rectum is producing excess mucus, otherwise the treatment seems to be going well. I have had 8 treatments of the planned 37. I am very alarmed and do not know what options if any there are. Are there any exercises that might help?

    Hi Geoge

One of the things I have discovered in this journey we under take that you need to know almost as much about thetreatmentas the consultant and to askthe right qestions.I do not produce PSA and there fore I have to rely upon CT scans to identify my progress l or lack of it.

Te consultant informed me that i had a large bladder stone which is caused by urine retention. I cn ause pain ad dscumport. if bleeding cause blood clos which block the flow.

Thank you Peter. I find that I am woefully unprepared to manage my way through radiotherapy side effects and the extra side effects that might come with prescribed drugs. i can see gut problems emerging soon. There is progrssive loosening day after day. I even missed the initial emema jell. It took me six days to decide the jell was upsetting me. The water enema solved the problem and scadalised the medics. Still it took three more days for my bowels to forgive me.

Three months after the end of therapy the pain on trying to pee, starting to pee and maintaining a flow are all tolerable in silence at the worst. Occasionalyl the activity may give only mild pain. No pain killers are needed. A pill is taken daily. It eases the flow and pain for about 14 hours in each day.
