Bleeding

Hello everybody  I am a newby and have just been diagnosed with LS and also have LP. I discovered my LS because I discovered blood on my underwear. Is this a normal/usual symptom? My GP was vey noncommittal and I am in the middle of lots of tests. I would love to know if my bleeding (spotting really) is a common symptom of LS.

Thanks. I have read a few threads here and have enjoyed the wonderful support given I would like to be a supporter not just a taker but am oo new to be of much use to any one.

Hello and welcome.  Do you think you are spotting (blood from vagina) or could you be bleeding at an LS site?  Spotting isn't common with LS but sometimes vulvar bleeding can be.  Many women scratch because the itch is so intense (especially while sleeping and they may not even realize).  They scratch to the point of bleeding.   Also, at times LS patients have lesions that can look like blood blisters.  I had those on two different occasions.

I'm sorry that you have this!

Thank you for your welcome. I am also sorry you have this horrible “thing”. I am not really sure where the bleeding was from I just had blood on my underwear. It was after a fairly energetic walk. I am hoping all the tests I am booked for will give me answers. It is all so new I haven’t even seen the gyro yet. Thanks for the support.

Hi there, and welcome to the community. it could be because the vulval skin has become very thin and sore.  Every best wish.

Hi Lynne, bleeding is unusual, but not something to be alarmed at because with LS the skin's surface becomes thin and delicate so that it bleeds, tears, and bruises easily, often causing tiny “blood blisters”.  We all have different symptoms of LS and so I wouldn't over worry, it is nothing sinister.

When I was suffering at my worst, I was so irritated that I found a couple of drops of blood when I wiped. But it wasn’t like spotting when you’re about to start your period.

thank you for you reply. Mine was like period spotting but may have been from exercise and rubbing, I guess.

I had bleeding prior to my diagnosis.  I think my skin was probably a bit raw and after the minor spotting I had a palm size amount of blood.  I was really worried but all the tests showed LS and nothing else.

Thank you for you reply. This sounds very like my experience and you give me hope that something more insidious may not be happening. I hope you have your symptoms under control and are not finding life with LS too daunting

Hi Lynne and other fellow members on this thread. Although I haven't had any bleeding from my LS, I did have spotting from my vagina on and off, and after investigation by a gynaecologist who performed a hysteroscopy, it turned out to be a pre-cancerous condition (complex atypical hyperplasia of the endometrium) so opted for a total hysterectomy. My point is, please don't leave any vaginal bleeding uninvestigated.

You're very welcome and thanks Lynne. I didn't want to state the obvious, but I've heard of women ignoring spotting, then it was too late to treat. I am well recovered from my hysterectomy October last year thanks. It's just that the LS came on a few months after. It's a difficult time for us women, but trying to stay strong. I wish you all the best to for the future my sweet x

Hi Lynne, just come across your thread. How did your tests go? Was your dr able to find the course ? I’m experiencing the same blood like symptoms.
