bleeding constantly so can't have smear-what happens next?

Ive been bleeding constantly between periods since Aug last year. Just had external and internal ultrasound, apart from fybroid which sonographer said is not the cause, womb n ovaries fine. I'm iron anaemic again n very tired and just had a water infection. Booked to see doc again in 2 weeks. Had colposcopy n cervix lasered in past due to pre cancerous cells from smear. Smear test (last done 3yrs ago) due this month but first attempt there was too much blood and had to cancel last 3 as bleed won't stop and test would fail. My question is if a smear can't be done...what next? The wait is driving me crazy. I'm 46.thanks.

If this is a persistent problem you may have to be referred to colposcopy unit. They have better ways of dealing with this problem and are the experts.

Have you been given anything to stop the bleeding such as tranexamic acid? If not ask, it made such a difference to me, I was told I came very close to falling off my perch I had bled for so long, this drug was amazing.

Thank you I guess 'Ill see what the doc says next Friday.  had to cancel another smear yesterday.  If they give you drugs to stop bleeding...is that after finding out what causes it first?

Not neccessarily, when I was bleeding excessively vaginally it was the first thing my GP offered me, she said lets stop the bleeding then go from there, I was put on Tranexamic Acid and within an hour the bleeding had stopped.
