Bleeding started again - normal?

So I'm now 8 days post op and until about an hour a ago bleeding had been minimal gradually reducing to a light discharge - but just had a bleed that is back to bright red and feeling v sore - I have taken it very easy the last few days so just wondered if this was maybe - normal  or if others had experienced the same - am also quite sore but have deliberately not been taking painkiller to ensure I don't over do it so tht might be more the reason for that- thanks

You must rest totally for another week or so. I hardly had any bleeding but if I went for a walk that was more than round my block (ten minute walk) I would be sore and bleed fresher blood.

good idea about not taking painkillers to ensure you don't overdo it aas you can listen to your body. I was on them and felt I could take in the world. Overdid it and suffered .. taking things alot more easy now. My specialist advised me that there could be some more bleeding in the 2 and 3 weeks as the healing starts and the stitches come away. Didn't get any myself but told not to worry as long as no clots and fresh blood no smell or yukky colour etc. Sdviosed to call my spec or GP if had these or high temp or pain that wouldn't go away with panadol. I am still very sore and I am in my 5 week. I swapped from pads to panty liners as soon as I could and try for nothing when at home. It is still saw. Hot showers or a hot flannel helps as does a cold pack but neither take away the ache for long. I find sitting or standing for too long make it heaps worst and try to rest up at least once a day in horizontal position and limited my sit stand times to 40 minutes. You are very early days yet and although it may not feel like it att the moment it does past quickly. Good luck

Yes I think it is such a shame that the hospital does not give you more information about healing times, what to expect and what to do and not to do. All I was given was a two sided piece of paper with a few instructions about not lifting anything heavier than a half full kettle etc. I was very lucky as husband had taken early retirement then ( gone back to work again now 😊). You are not told about the discomfort, pulling, dragging feeling that convinces you that the surgery has gone wrong and that the prolapse is still there!!

I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't had this form for support.

Hello deborah I hope everything went well. It's normal to get occasional heavy bleeding but if you have pain please take something to help because pain hinders recovery.

Hi Matron. I see you are back from your cruise I really do hope you had a fantastic time. The time is passing very quickly in some respects almost 5 weeks already, but so slowly in others. The mood swings and soreness at the rear vaginal entrance have been the hardest to deal with for me.

I got a bad bladder infection with blood in my urine and high temperatue ( not from the Op) and was placed on meds and told to rest up. Our front garden is currently being landscaped by my hubby and I and I am assisiting and kneeling to help plant the trfees & flowers out etc. I do feel heavy down there and have some slight bleeding which I have read is normal and to be expected and not to be worried unless there is a lot of it, it is smelly or has clots.I really need to help plant these plants and yes there is no way else to help and no they can't wait.. well they could but they would die. Any advise on how best to cope. I am already kneeling on an old pillow and keeping off my bottom as much as possible. I planted alot over the weekend and still have another batch to do ASAP so any advise would help. I had my grandson today , daughter was sick ,  grandson was sick too and she couldn't watch him and there was no one else to take him. Her sister came so I would avoid lifting him etc but I still found I instincly picked him up without even thinking about it when he fell down some steps and held him until I could get him to doctors. I am even more sore now. Any advice in this area too. With coping with toddlers. Would I know if I had popped some internal stitches or caused some damage.I see my specialist on the 5th April about a fortnights time. He has said I can drive even now but to take it easy. Limit the amount siitting to 40 minutes and if it bcomes too uncomfortable avoid driving or take more rests. Lastly I know I should have looked but it was so sore I wanted to see if the area was swollen or red. The area looked heaps better than beforer the op as the scar down there was very distressed and ugly before my op. New scar looks ok but I seem to have a small pea shaped piece of skin almost like a skin tag hanging down in font of the scar, is this normal? will it go away by itself? What has caused this? What if anything can be done about this? Just want to arm myself with options before my spec appointment. Sorry for long post.. bet you wish you were back on that cruise.

      Thanks

Hi matron, Tilley here again. Forgot to mention I had a quick feel inside too, very lumpy on vaginal walls, is  and area quite tight? this normal? I am worried it might be the prolapse bulging foward again. I was so depressed with the whole feling useless and am I worthy because of my dependenacy on others, I curled myself up in a ball and creid myself to sleep the other day because hubby shouted at me, I know the mood swings can be njust the joys of this surgery. If I have done some damage what is the normal way to fix any damage? Is it best to go see my specialist now and could he repair it in his rooms? Or will he make me wait until completely healed and recall me for new surgery. Not sure I could handle that again, truly struggling this time. Hope all the ladies recovering are doing great.
