I'm so sorry khippie, I didn't.  I was so upset at the bleeding (which has stopped now) that everything else went out of my head.  I did have a look at the BUPA information on "Caring for surgical wounds" and it contains lots of useful information and doesn't recommend massaging the wound for 2-3 weeks.  I will pm you the link.

Useful to know from a trusted source - don't massage initially, but common sense really if i think about it, you wouldn't want to rub a newly knitted scar would you.

Gald it's stopped leaking for you there, i thought it would be short lived.

Thanks Graham, not sure why I panicked so much.  I just thought it would let infection in.  I'll give it a couple of days and check the wound, or get someone else to.  It's not in the easiest place to check yourself smile

      Cels,

No problem, we are so aware of what can happen, rather you panic a bit and seek advice than dismiss it and end up getting an infection in there.

It's so hard to actually see a posterior scar isn't it, mine is impossible for me to see without a long mirror.

      Thanks Graham,

I think I'll leave this dressing on for today and check it tomorrow.  It doesn't feel hotter than the other side, there's no redness outside the dressing, it isn't feeling hard to the touch and although it's a bit sore that's natural.  It's no sorer than it was before the staples were removed.

Mine bled for a while, but I also still had a bit discharge, it goes eventually but just keep an eye on it.  I use a magnifying mirror to look and stand near a window, natural light makes it easier to see, Just make sure no one can see you lol

Magnifying mirror was a great idea Lynn, that's what I've just used biggrin

Hhhmmm ... may not be useful advice, but we sprayed the entire incision area every day with hydrogen peroxide. The bubbling arising from any open areas helped me understand what had not closed entirely and also seemed to help it heal more quickly. Just be sure to dab away any run-off so you don't 'bleach' anything. My incision (knock on wood) seems to be nicely healed and I have begun to massage it lightly with coconut oil (thank to all for the suggestion).

Hope you are on the mend with no hiccups.

I've just taken my dressing off to have a look.  I couldn't wait, and pleased to say it's all looking good.  No further bleeding and it looked clean so I left it alone and just put a clean dressing on, a bit wonky but secure.

      I feel happier now cheesygrin
