Blepharitis

The physician said to use hot compresses for 10 min, 3 or 4 times a day.  His nurse said  5 min would work, but definitely not less than 5.  Ideal would be to lie down and relax with compress but that is hard to do when you are keeping it hot.

    Hi Kathy

My consultant told me 10 minutes as hot as possible and keep re heating it as it cooled down....twice a day.

    You can get eye bags on line that you put in the microwave and just lie down and put it over your eyes......much easier than the water and keeping re heating the facecloth. It holds the heat long enough.;

Hi Kathy,   As Eileen has said you can get eye bags on line.  I got mine from Amazon but did not get on with it, but lots of people swear by them.  They are much more convenient to use.  I have gone back to the flannal soaked in hot water method.  Everyone is different. I think the usual thing is 10min twice a day.  Once it's under control only once a day.  You will be able to work out what suits you best. All the best do ask the forum if you have any more questions.

Hi Eileen,  Different forum we meet again.  Yes, I meant for Kathy to try the rice bag as so many think it's great.  I just found it too heavy and too drying but I probably just have very sensitive eyes.   I wish I did get on with it as it's a lot more convenient to use.  As you say what ever suits us best.

      Bye for now

Okay i did some research and i think i have pinkeye.  The reason is b/c i looked at some photos of it and because someone mentioned it could be conjectivitus and i check thats pinkeye.

Has anyone here had pinkeye before?  I saw that the bottom eyelids is very red in pictures online and thats the same as mine.  Also blurry vision is another characterisitc of it.

I booked an apptment to see an optometrist tomrorowo.  So basically i had this pain and blurry vision since thursday or so few days back.  Thus its going to be

5-6 days or so till i see an eye doctor.  Would that still be fine?  I read online just now if you have pink eye, you should see a doctor immediately but when i first got it, i thought it was just my blepharitis coming back but then again i never had blurry vision when i had blepharitis.

And the last few days, i still have the blurred vision and i dont feel like its getting any better.  Anyone here with blepharitis had pink eye before?  Im thinking that what i have right now.

My ophamologist SP ?? treated me for pink-eye for 3 MOS-I had to change pillow cases everyday , couldn't touch anybody etc.  Finally, she referred me to their cornea specialist----one look and he diagnosed Blepharitis sad Recently, I had severe headaches for several days.  I had purchased one of the Thermalon Microwaveable eye mask.  I used it one night and it was very hot but not too hot to burn.  I woke up the next morning and my eye was blood red.  There was no itching, just some burning.  I called Dr She said, hemorrhaging of eye- THe redness lasted 4 days.  Now I am afraid to use the eye mask again.  It may have just been coincidental not sure.

      Awww Kathy

I'm sorry to hear that.  You could always put it in the microwave for a slightly shorter time but I can quite understand why you are a bit worried about trying it again

As both Libralady and I said....we are all different.

Should i worry a lot that i think i have pink eye?  im going to see what the eye doctor says tomororwo about it.  The thing is i had it for 5 days already and i had thought it was just my blepharitis flaring up again but my eyelids the bottom of each is very red and thats what i saw blepharitis is.

Also the blurred vision isn't all the time.  It would be fine for 1 hour then blurred vision i would get for 1 hour... then my vision would be fine then go back to blurred vision throughout the day and this has been happening for the last few days.

My vision is more blurry still. I use the computer a lot, so that may be contributing to mine. Pink-eye is conjuncuvitis Sp ? Iam sure many people have this  but just chalk it up to allergies. After I use the coompresses, my vision is real blurry.I will be anxious to hear what your DR says.

      Hi

My bleph started from a bacterial case of pink eye. I believe bacteria is one of the main causes of blepharitis. You can get a cobdition called blephoconjunctivitis where you have the inflamed glands as well as a ful blown pink eye. I seem to have this  but not sure if it is because i have dry eye and that's what causes the whites of my eyes to be bloodshot.

A antibiotic  eyedrop would probably help you.
