Blepharitis and vision.

i have had BLEPHARITIS for nearly two years and tried many treatments. Also followed the forum for advice. Recently I have been not so red eyed by having a good thorough cleaning routine. Eyes drops, blephargeL and wet wipes morning and night.  Some days my vision is very blurry. During a recent eye test it showed my vision had NOT deteriation. However some days are difficult with bluriness , shadows around objects and light sensitive.

on my last consultant visit I asked him about the blurriness

He pressed my eyeball till it hurt and said you have a lot of gel in your eye and must massage it in more. So now I add heat pads and massage to my daily routine. My vision concerns me.

does any one else experience this?

also recently someone posted about low dosage anti biotics long term as a treatment. Has anyone on the forum had this and  experienced success?

Im thinking when he said you have alot of gel in your eyes he actually meant oil. Simetimes a person has too much in ratio to the other 2 tear film layers. If one is off, blurry vision. I am going through this right now. I often get blurring with a vaseline or hazy affect. I have mgd. Then they say warm compresses which release more oil into eye. I can only imagine the bacteria that stagnent oil has. The gel in the eye is the vitreous. I dont think you can have too much of that.

interesting lee. Have you seen videos on you tube where people have MGD and have the glands expressed. What do you think to that treatment?

I wouldnt mind trying it. The thing is finding a doctor who does it. All this new stuff, lipiflow. Light therapy etc no one around here has the equipment and i dont live far from the large Mayo clinic in Rochester. The mites that can even caus this have to be found on some special microscope. Well I would even have to go out of town for that. Wish these places would keep up with things. Id like to try doxcyciline also. Xx

Hi,just thought id tell you my doctor wants me to try one compress a day and less lid manipulation. Hopefully that will help with excess oil in the eye. He is willing to write a script for doxyciline as it might make the oil less thick. One big guessing game. Sigh

Will be interesting to hear how things are with the  doxyciline.

i thought the manipulation helped with dispersing the drops and gels around.

It gets the oil out of the ducts, but too much oil in tearfilm can caus clouding and blurring. Makes sense having to look through bad oil in a tear film.

Can putting honey to your eyes cause vision loss?

I've been using Manuka Honey to my eyes and it does look like it helps to get my eyes less irritated but I'm also facing rapid vision loss.  So I don't know what I'm supposed to do.
