Blepharitis - Blephasteam goggles and Eyeliner tattoo

Posted , 5 users are following.

Hey guys!

I've been stuck with blepharitis for six months now, managing to keep it fairly at bay for the last few weeks, but i am an insomniac so a bad week of sleep tends to make it flair up again. I've just ordered the Blephasteam goggles, has anyone tried them yet? I will report back as they are £200 so I will let you all know whether to get them or not waste your money!

Also, have any of you had any experience of having laser eye surgery or eyeliner tattoos since being diagnosed? I know most would advise to avoid altogether, but I'm struggling to think of not having either in the future!! Especially the liner tattoo, as I am so deeply unhappy with how I look without eye make up, I'm starting to think the risks may outweigh the initial agony!

Thanks guys!

    Dear lisha,

I wore makeup while I was killing the Blepharitis. I used the Wet Ones, antibacterial hand wipes, with Benzethonium Chloride in them. It took over 3 months to kill it. It was a Staph infection and I had terrible itching.

You need to use new makeup and never double dip into it. Use clean applicators each time and one for each eye. I used throw away mascara wands too. One for each eye. I never put a used one back into the tube. I still don't. I use one now for both eyes as the Bleph is gone but because of dry eye it is easy to get it again.

If you have sensitive skin and cannot use some detergents or fabric softeners you may not be able to use the wipes. I am in the US so used the ones with .3% Benzethonium Chloride.

I hope this helps and if you want any more info just let me know.

    Hi Lisha,

Have you had a chance to try the Blephasteam mask yet?

I was diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago and started heat masks, baby shampoo (to which I add drops of melaleuca oil), and then thanks to Lynda I began using the Wet Ones wipes. I did great for two years and then it came back with a vengeance. I had to go back to the Doctor for antibiotic eye ointment and I am suffering with a bout right now. I never quit using the Wet Ones and I kept up my regimen faithfully all this time. I am just heartsick that it has started all over again, so I am looking forward to hearing about the mask you are talking about. I had never heard of it before. Thanks in advance and I hope you are doing better!
