Blinded By The Light?

I"m a few months out now from the operations and appear to have a "light" issue.  All my life I've been a little sensitive to lights that are "too bright",.

Lately while in the house I've found myself shielding my eyes from light coming in the front windows when the blinds have been opened up too far.  And at night although it did not intially bother me much the glare of oncoming headlights and their halo effect is almost painful.

When going outside I wear good quality sunglasses and do just fine, no pain no problem.  I understand they make glasses you can wear at night that designed to eliminate or greatly reduce that halo effect from oncoming car lights.

I've decided to go ahead and buy them.  At first I thought it was just a minor inconvenience but now I find it actually boarding in painful and feel relieve when concoming traffic goes by and I no longer have that painful halo to look at.

If the nighttime glasses provide me with as much relief as the daytime sunglasses do I'll be very happy.

Hi I had light issues for the first 6 weeks but gradually it got better. It is normal in the beginning and very uncomfortable.Have you been back to see anyone? I am surprised this has lasted so long and think you need to talk to your surgeon.

My only permanent after problems seem to be that my eye's feel dirty, like my contact lens have been in for too long and need to come out.  that happens more toward the end of the day.  A few eyedrops like liquid tears and that goes away.

The other issue is that the light is overpowering outside without sunglasses.  I can go out but have to squent and it can be a bit too much.  And the halos on headlights at night.

When i put my sunglasses on during the day it's remarkable.  It's instanly fine.  I'll be ordering some of those glasses to help with halos at night.  I've noticed at night I can see much better.  Way more details.  But the on-coming car lights are a bit much.

I'll try to remember to mention this on the next visit.

Thanks to everyone for their comments.

My general impression is that cataract surgery where they put a new lens in your eyes is not as trouble free as they like to advertize.  But then it sure beats going blind with catracts!!!!

I also have great difficulty driving at night after my cataract surgery.  The retina specialist said I have swelling and inflammation at the retina. I just got an injection for that. Hopefully, it will help. Yesterday, I stopped at the Dollar Store and saw those yellow clop-on glasses that are advertized on TV saying they reduce the glare.  I've always laughed at the commercials for them, but I thought, what the heck, I'll try them. The ride home was so much better. The headlights of the other cars were yellow, but had no giant halos that were blinding me. I could even see the sides of the road better. Before, I almost went off the road twice because I couldn't see where the lanes were. Give them a try. .
