Bloating & Cramps

Hello

Im new to this site but in need of some advice please.

For the past year ive suffered terribly with bloating, my tummy expands so much i look pregnant from around lunch time.  Ive tried swtiching to lactose free but its made no difference.

It tends to be worse if i eat breakfast so ive tried changing but nothing works, porridge, muesli, cornflakes, weatabix all have the same affect on me.  If i skip breakfast then im not too bad apart from feeling so hungry and irratable.

Any idea whats causing this?

I would go to your doctor and ask about IBS, celiac, and non celiac gluten sensitivity.  You maybe intolerant to wheat which is a major culprit in causing bloating.  The only way of identifying a trigger food is to illiminate it from your diet for two weeks to see if symptoms improve.

I was diagnosed with IBS last year after three months of stomach pain, bowel changes and nausea.  The doctor may be able to diagnose you based on your symptoms alone but usually they do ultrasounds, stool samples and sometimes colonoscopies to rule out other conditions.  If everything is negative, IBS can be diagnosed.

Hi. many ibs sufferers can't break down fibre properly, so all the cereals you mention probably aggravate your stomach/bowels!! if you feel nauseus in morning, try having half a pint of 1% fat milk for brekkie (the one with the orange cap) it works for me. milk is a nutritious food - just in liquid form & gentle on tummy. also try switching to white bread, really cut out fibre for couple of weeks and see if this helps you . will probably make a big difference to bloating & diarrea if you get it. hope this helps xx

Have you ever been diagnosed with IBS Or Celiac Disease. These are things to consider. Ovarian tumors also presents with gas and bloating. To put your mind at ease see a gynecology and/or GI specialist. Preferably at a teaching or University Hospital.

I had identical symptoms. Gluten does not help. I am using spelt flour and -after trying everything- I have to make my own bread if I don't want to suffer. There are certain foods that trigger the condition like cheese, milk, when taken with dairy products -in my case-. My doctor gave me all sort of tables and nothing has work so far appart from hypnotherapy. Blessed the day I tried. I used to take a stomach protector everyday since I started the hynotherapy I need the protectors once or twice a month. The constipation is MUCH better and the bloating is almost, -almost- gone.
