Blob type floater in left eye

Posted , 6 users are following.

Hi, I'm curious if anyone on this forum has a similar blob type floater. I've asked this question already but I'm now just looking for support and comparison. Doctor says its a floater and retina is fine. My concern is it is not a squiggly line floater which, to me, is not as bothersome. If anyone can relate can you describe your floater and maybe suggest what you do for it, if anything. Thank you

It's probably PVD (Posterior Vitreous Detachment). There's been a number of recent posts about it. Do a search on here. You can also Google the term to learn more. Very annoying condition but not serious.

I've had it in my right eye for 6 months, some people for years. My optometrist said not much can be done about it but your brain will eventually compensate for much of it and most of the time you won't even notice or think about it. That is what has happened with me. When it does noticeably affect my field of vision, I lightly shake my head to the side one time and at least it goes away for a bit. That's about the only thing that works for me.

Yes,I have a large floater that is in my left eye. As far as I know,Its the same idea as the thread floaters,or the small dark floaters, just a larger piece of vitreous material. I know it can be very un nerveing, I also have cotton type floaters that move like a smudge in the eye etc. They can take more than one form and can range from black,Grey, smudges and even clear. Ive had small floaters for years. I now have PVDs both eyes and since having them I have gotten more of them and the different types.

    Yes.

I have mine after some eye trauma.

I went to eye Dr. told no lasting trauma but that nothing they can do.. I don't entirely believe that

I agree the blob floaters are a lot more distracting. I long for the days when I just had the string type. In fact, some of my floaters are more like big blurry patches that move across my vision when I look from side to side. For me, it's been a slow but steady progression of worsening floaters ever since I was a kid - now 65. Other than draining your vitreous fluid and replacing it with something artificial there is not much that can be done. I've read (although don't entirely believe) that is possible but I would have to blind before I went that route.
