Blocked ear with no apparent cause

Hi everyone

I've had a blocked ear for 4 days. It's been accompanied by a stuffy nose on and off, but the ear has been constantly blocked. I went to an ENT yesterday who did a scope in my nostrils and checked my ears, said there is absolutely no wax or infection, no growths or obstructions. He said it could be due to a lack of air pressure in my ear, which may nor may not resolve spontaneously and which cannot be treated. I did a hearing test as well.

When I open and close my jaw I can hear a fluid- like sound, but the doc says there's no fluid buildup there.

I have had problems with the ear before due to a water skiing accident, but it's been fine for years.

Now I'm getting pain in the ear. It seems I've exhausted the diagnostic options. I'm really worried. What else could it be?

Hi sorry you are having problems with your ear , have you asked for a scan just to check this out thoroughly ? And also may be worth getting your dentist to check your teeth and jaw , it seems strange no one is coming up with any answers and if you are now getting pain , it might be worth pursuing , the dental line , how are your eyes , possibly a sight check up too , hoping you resolve the issue

    Best wishes

Thanks Helen, I think a scan could be the next step. I actually have a dentist appointment tomorrow, so I can ask her to check.

Today it feels ever so slightly better, so I'm holding ono the hope that it might resolve...
