Blocked nostrils, burning throat, coughing...I feel constantly run down. Losing the will to live.

Hi lovely ladies,

So, I am new here and was wondering if anyone has felt like they're on the verge of getting the flu or a cold? I have had a very dry mouth, burning tongue, a throat that isn't super sore, but sort of burning with occasional coughing, and it's bringing me down. This has been going on for months.

What has added to that for the past month is a blocked nose, so blocked in fact that at night I was dreaming and felt like I was suffocating in my dream, only to jolt up gasping for breath because I actually was suffocating- both nostrils were completely blocked and extremely dry like I needed to stick vaseline up there. Not to mention I already have breathlessness issues at night, so I could have died in my sleep. I have tried saline sprays, they do nothing.

I have been using Sudafed nasal spray and I am glad to say that it is a miracle, it literally clears my nose in seconds, however it is only to be used for 3 days, whereas I have been addicted to it for a month now. I have tried to wean off it and the blocked nose comes back. I'm stuck and I need your help and recommendations. 😦

I am at my wits end.

Scared of bedtime now, when it used to be the only time of the day where i would get respite from feeling miserable all day with other symptoms of peri. Now, I don't even have that peace of mind, so no sleep has given rise to body aches and pains, probably rising cortisol levels from lack of sleep. Can't win and everything has had a knock on effect on my health.

So to wrap it up, what bothers me the most and scares me somewhat is the dry sore throat and coughing and the blocked nose, it's ruining my quality of life seriously. Any remedies for this incessant congestion and dryness would be appreciated.

Hope you're all doing ok xxx

Hi I do get all this , ive had issues with my sinuses for years, however when my symptoms started with peri the sinuses really got bad. I also have a big polyp on my right side that flares up causing blockage.. at night its very dry and I suffer badly , I have had that complete blockage and get jolted awake like I'm suffocating, I sleep propt up somewhat when my sinuses are clogged.. and they do get really clogged anf dry with this menopause, also that sinus spray you are on is bad news those have a residual effect causing more damage than they are worth, years ago I used them and thought the same , this is great I'm all clear, then when it wears off you are more swollen than when you started it.. took me months to wean off but I did it.. and don't be afraid to use the Vaseline up there its very soothing.. also my sinuses and dryness get really bad at certain times of the month like during ovulation, so hormones can trigger this...

I completely understand! I have started using a product that my kids' dentist (my daughters both have a mouth device they wear at night so they need to be able to breathe through their nose) recommended that is not habit forming and can be used every day, morning and night. You can get it anywhere, including amazon. It is called Xlear nasal spray.

Hi. I've had the same symptoms - wet, itchy throat, lump in throat that does not go away, post nasal drip that also does not go away so as a result my throat was sore all the time. Not super sore but it's hard to ignore. Flu-like symptoms. This went on everyday for 5 months then it disappeared and along came new totally different sets of symptoms.
