Could also be a fissure. That can cause it. I had one took me almost a year to get rid of it.

Blood in the stool causes it's appearance to be black. If you are experiencing red blood on your stool it may be an anal fissure or hemmorhoid. I had an anal fissure that used to keep on breaking open and, when I strained on the toilet, there would be blood all over the inside of the toilet. I got tired of that and had surgery to close the fissure-it was successful and no more problem.

You need to go to a proctocologist to have him evaluate your condition, but I doubt it's colon cancer or anything like that. Red blood usually means fissure/hemmorhoid.

I just ate a lot of fiber to always have soft stool so I didn't have to push much and it eventually went away.

Yeah bleeding isnt bad it was only a little but I am freaking out my anxiety is getting the best of me i couldnt even go out and enjoy the 4th of july here in the US today because i have been so worried. I am having mild back pain and random pains and zaps around my belly and pelvic area. Its so scary. It isnt constant or severe or anything debilitating but it keeps me so afraid.

Ive had something occur like it before but not blood in my stool. There was only a little streak barely even noticeable on tissue but today it was alot more blood and i could actually see it in my stool and it streaked out which made it look like it was kind of alot.

At your age it is 99 per cent more likely to be "piles" (cannot spell the H word). See your GP and he or she will probably examine you and maybe prescribe one of the ointments or suppositories.

PS anybody over 50 should be vigilant. Here in Australia the government sends out kits for people over 50/55/60 to do a little test at home to check yr poo for invisible signs of blood. Unfortunately, too many people are embarrassed to use the kits. You can buy them at pharmacies too.

If I sound "sane" I am a mega hypochondriac though not as bad as I was.

this sort of thing is my health anxiety to. it all started for me with blood in my stool and lead me down this path of health anxiety. i was convinced i had colon cancer to. over the past few years i had all the tests from bloods to colonoscopy to scans. nothing was ever found and i still have symptoms to this day with blood and thin stools. ive been told i have hemmoroids and ibs which is hard to accept for me even to this day. like normal people with health anxiety trusting the doctors is hard and my mind spins in all directions. the only thought i have is that its been a good few years so if i did have bowel cancer id be dead now.

bright red blood though sounds more like hemmoroids or an anal fissure. if there was bleeding higher up the colon then the blood would be darker red and then black even higher up towards towards the stomach area.

go and see doctor and have an rectal exam. if there is piles or fissure he/she will find it. if nothing is seen or felt then ask for a flex sig procedure. as the blood is bright red they wont have to look all the way through only half way.
