Blood in urine after UTI has cleared

Posted , 3 users are following.

I recently had a UTI which has now responded to AB's and the symptoms have cleared. However the GP decided to refer me to  a urologist for a cystoscopy and scan/blood tests for kidney infection/kidney stones. No infection was found and the cystoscopy was clear too. However the hospital doctor still wants me to see a nephrologist to check other aspects of my kidneys. I am feeling fine at the moment so I am a bit reluctant to have another referral.

I suggested it could be menopausal (2.5 years since last period) but hospital doctor dismissed that idea. Has anyone else has a similar experience?

    Hi Katejo,

Are you asking because you still have blood in your urine - as your title says?  You don't mention it in your question so a bit confused!

If you still have blood after the infection has cleared then you certainly should see the nephrologist.  If not, but the hospital thinks the check would be a good idea, I'd go for it as you never know what they might be thinking but not saying!

I haven't had this experience but I would always accept any tests going if a hospital thinks it's advisable.

      Hi Miriam

Yes i now just have blood in the urine according to the doctor. I was surprised because it looks clear to me. I just want to wait a couple of weeks and have another test done to see if it clears first.

But did the urologist refer you to another deot. After doing his scans or tests? My urology tests were all clear. I don't want extra medication which isn't needed.
