Blood in urine appearing after I hold in my pee?

Hi, I'm a 20 year old female, and do a decent amount of exercise such as walking. On the 10th of November, I started having symptoms of a mild UTI, such as a slight stinging feeling when i went and i kept feeling like i had to go, although i barely produced any urine. I've had these type symptoms before, and have been able to treat them at home, so i drank alot of water and gradually got better day by day until eventually on Monday afternoon disappeared. Tuesday and Wednesday felt completely normal, but then on Thursday morning, I held in my pee for a good two hours, and when i went, it burned so bad and was very painful (altough this happens sometimes if i have to hold it for long periods of time) but this was when i noticed a little blood on the tissue. it was brownish/bloody tinge, no bright red blood in the urine, although i couldn't quite tell if there was alittle bit. As the day progressed, urinating was less painful, less frequent and by the end of the day not even a tinge of noticeable blood. Friday, after drinking  decent amount and going regularly, i felt pretty much normal, other than my helath anxiety which went through the roof when i noticed blood. So i rang the doctors on Friday afternoon explaining that i thought i had a UTI, and they said I could just pop in that evening to have my urine checked. Although i was practically feeling normal and my pee looked healthy, I thought it was best just in case there was any bacteria lingering there, because then it could be treated. However, they called me saying that it came back negatuve and it was nothing. I included in my notes with the urine sample the symptoms I experineced, so i'm assuming they read them. I'm confused now - over teh weekend i was fine, except i kept feeling like i had to go, but the feeling soon passed (I think that may have been because I kept thinking about). This morning i had to hold my pee for about an hour, and i don't know if it was just because i was looking for it, but i thought my pee looked like it could have had a certain red/brown tinge, but nothing that could be that noticeable. All day though, normal pee in a normal amount, no pain since thursday, so it appears to be fine until i have to hold it.

I do have a bad habit of holding my pee in at times. I think its why i've had uti-like symptoms before, but this seems to be a case of whenever i hold it for long periods, blood will be in my urine, and it may sting/burn, but then when i don't hold it i'm fine. I'm really scared, as i suffer from health anxiety that this is the big C - I know i'm young but I worry so much when it comes to health that basically everyday I'm worrying about some horrible disease or condition or i'm on the lookout for symptoms. I've stopped holding in urine when its optional because somehow i feel that is the cause of this in a way.

?What could this be? Is holding in my urine causing this symptoms, or is this something horrible?

?

Thanks

Please just go and see your doctor - it may be nothing at all but get yourself checked out thoroughly

Check out the c.o.b site who specialist in bladder problems, it could be ic which does cause stinging, heat, soreness and abnormal passing of amounts or how you pass it. or it could be something else, does sound like any pressure of urine on bladder or urethra is causing a small amount of blood, ic does cause inflammation which can lead to a bit of blood loss and other symptoms, sounds like some sort of inflammation, But c.o.b are experts and will advice. There can be quite a lot of conditions of bladder urethra that arent very serious, so try not to worry, check out site, you could also ask gp for referral to urologist who know much more than gps.  good luck

Sorry, I know this reply was two years ago, but I hope everything went well for you.

I am pleased to say that I am absolutely fine on that front. I believe it was just a passing UTI which was just a bad one. I had another the following May in 2017, but I haven't had a really bad one since. They seem to crop up when I am under stress. I hope all is well with you now?
