blood in urine with LS......

I have had LS for a few years and it has been under control with 2 med's...do not get UTI's often but have had 1 or 2....started to have blood in my urine that would last a few hours and then disappear as quickly as it started...saw a Urologist and had a cystiscope and was told everything was fine...saw a specialist at the University of Penna. and he said ALL tests were normal and this "can" occur and there is NO real reason why this happens....after 2 years (and this would occur once every few months) it stopped and now (today) saw blood in my urine...has anyone experienced this??

Vickie... sorta... not exactly. But when i mentioned 2 UTIs to my Derm, she said...take a "good" probiotic. she said a capsule that doesnt require refrigeration. so, i took it morning and night for about 10 days, then, once a day for about 10 more days, then 3 days a week, now, none.

so, within hours, my bladder felt different. just this week, i noticed that all of a sudden, my bladder capacity is like double what it was 2 weeks ago.

I offer this just fir what it is...???

Do you also have pain when you pee when this happens? might be a dumb question but is it possible you're spotting instead of the blood coming from your bladder? I used to have terrible UTIs but then I discovered DMannose and never had it again. Maybe give it a go? It is the only thing that helped me other than antibiotics. X

Vero - I too swear by D-Mannose...someone on one of these forums suggested it and if I have a HINT of a UTI, I double up/triple up dose and it goes away. That said, with the probiotics, the whole problem seems to have improved.

Never heard of "D'Mannose"....is this a prescription or over the counter medication? This is NOT coming from my Vagina - coming from uretha...

Vickie...no it's a supplement. As it turns out, when you hear about cranberries being good for UTIs...it isn't the acid content, it is that they are naturally high in D-Mannose. D-Mannose is a sugar, and for some reason (they don't know why) certain bad bacteria seem to adhere to it in the bladder, and prevent it from adhering to the tissue in the bladder.

I buy 1500 mg capsules. If you have recurring issues, take 1 morning and night for a week or so, then if you have any hint of UTI, pop 2, then 2 a day. For me, it has been magic.

Hi I have had blood in my urine and had a scope to reveal the bladder was fine, I paid privately for this as otherwise I would have had to wait 6 months for a follow up urine test. Recent urine test showed blood again and on a subsequent test the health centre just told me it was 'satisfactory'. I believe that it still showed blood but they don't like having to keep testing and paying for the tests. It has always been just a trace. I have never had any explanantion for a trace being there. I have never seen blood in my urine it's only been detected on testing. Never linked it to LS though

i, too, had a scope along with a kidney and bladder x-ray with contrast - after seeing a Urologist and then a second was told sometimes there is no explanation for this - it will occur and then stop and could happen again....go figure...my specialist for the LS has now told me there is no connection between both...
