    Hi, give this a go;

    1avacado (which I don't really like), 1 sliced beetroot, 1 sliced banana, 1 cup of fresh orange juice, 2 cups of almond milk (easier to get than I had imagined) and 1 cup of diced pineapple....oh and 5 sweeteners melted in a little boiling water (bit of a sweet tooth). I put all this lot in a smoothie maker and pressed the button. Now I know this sounds pretty disgusting but believe me it's actually quite nice. 1 small mug of this a day is enough. I've also changed from semi skimmed milk to almond milk. Maybe a little excercise every day (even a brisk walk). Most of all chill out a bit and don't let the b******s grind you down! Good luck Liz. x

      Dear Bobsleigh

      How does one not let the b..........s grind one down?  I've eaten avocados, beetroot and bananas for decades but not sure they are d oing the trick.

      Try not to let people stress you . I know it's easy to say but nowadays I tend  to have the policy of if you have a problem and can't do anything about it there is absolutely no point in worrying about it. Do what you can and then let nature take it's course. If you worry it just seems to make things worse in my experience.

      Hello All

      I don't know how to do a group reply .Been for result of 24 hr monitor .Was not good .Had a bit of arguing with GP ,I'm an OAP .Anyway he said would have to add something to meds but what .After a lot of chat took my Bp 188/89 (been worse), wrote script for low dose ramipril.Then as I was about to leave said to come back .couldn't take it as I had allergy 2 years ago to something similar .Never heard mention of the drug .Looked through his book chart,don't know what to give you .Bladder probs on felodopine .I had said at beginning about increasing my atenolol ,.Definitely not .So big surprise suddenly it will be alright to take 50 mg morning and 25 mg at night . Feel he just took easy option and I'm to go back to him in 2 weeks . Can't go to different one as they take offence .Thoughts anyone .Helpful,reassuring if possible Liz x

    I have been on amlodipine for about 9months and my blood pressure has gone from consistently being 210/110 down to 127/73. I have had bad side effects from them and keep reading horrible things about them being banned in other countries.  I left them off for one day as I was feeling really unwell and blood pressure shot up straight away   It is very difficult knowing what to do for the best I hate taking them but am scarred not to.  They seem to be very efficient at doing the job.

    Hi I wouldn't worry , if you explain to the doc that you were rushed and really panicky they will take this under white coat syndrome but if it's really over what your normal than it's worth while changing medication to bring overall bp down !!

    Hi Liz. I am a relative "newby" to all this high bp stuff as well as this forum. I am quite lucky in that from an average high of around 170/95 I have managed to get down to an average of 140/80 BUT before Xmas I was in the low 120's/mid 70's. I am on ramipril. To get to my lowest readings I lost almost a stone in weight which to me as a fairly slim guy anyway just made me look skinny. I changed my diet and my lifestyle and I think my body went into "shock" which resulted in the low readings. Now after a fairly indulgent Xmas I am struggling to get back to previous low figures.

    My point is this, I think the medical profession and us patients only know part of the story relating to hypertension. Why is it that some ideas work for some people and not others. Why do some people like you and me suffer from white coat syndrome. Why are some "wonder drugs" great for some and not others? It is a matter of trial and error

    No one can look after your body better than YOU. Good luck on Monday. Keep us posted.
