You definitely have HSV1, but it could well be oral herpes, whether asymptomatic or not. Many people carry it, so I wouldn't worry.

Your HSV2 index value is a very low positive, *but* since you have a high HSV1 score and have never had any genital herpes symptoms, it is very likely false. Pre-existing HSV1 is known to slightly cross-react with the HerpeSelect IgG test for HSV2.

So, you carry HSV1, but (most likely) not HSV2. Keep your index value for baseline purposes should you ever retest.

I do suffer form cold sores usually when i am stressed , when i had my blood test i had cold sore and the doctor said my results could be a false positive

I had swabs done to see if i had any shedding because he also told me that because i have no visable symptoms ie blisters or rash ect i could still have hsv2 i dont have those results as yet but i would say id be extreamly lucky if after having unprotected sex with my partner who is hsv2 positive (and failed to tell me) that he hasnt passed it on to me

Thank yoy for taking ur time out to read and reply to me this is a comfort and great help as im feeling lost and low right now

You will be okay, I'm sure. smile Not every sexual encounter with an infected person results in herpes. Depends on various factors, so kind of like playing Russian roulette. Looks like you dodged the bullet, lucky you! If you stay with your bf, ask him to wear a condom and consider daily suppressive meds. He owes you that much!
