Blood test

I'm sorry I advance for this.. Just I have real bad health anxiety and needed some general advice and support.

So for the past few months I've felt exhausted. I feel like 90% of my day is a dream but yet I sleep a good 8 and hours per night! My legs have also swelled. The doctor believes it to be water and arranged some blood tests for me.

This was dinner time yesterday (Wednesday) today (Thursday) I got a phone call at approx 10am arranging me to see a doctor in the next week to discuss abnormal blood results.

I then asked the receptionist what came back abnormal and she said - low vitamin b12, follate and ferraratin. She also said my crp and ESR levels were raised.

Can anyone explain the CRP and ESR part to me?

Hello Sarah, I do think that receptionists shouldn't give you blood results if there is a note asking you to make a note to see a doctor.

CRP & ESR are inflammatory markers, which could be anything - or nothing!

Have you made an appointment or maybe you could talk to a doctor over the phone, then go in and see someone. I think you need to be reassured first of all, so a phone call would do that

    Don't worry Sarah.

CRP and ESR are inflammation markers. they go up in response to anything from a small infection to things like Arthritis, depending on the level.

I had mine checked before i was diagnosed with ME and my CRP was over 100, which is very high.

The next test it had returned to normal and they still don't know what caused it.

Try not to worry too much, especially considering its only one blood test so far as it could be completely unrelated. easier said than done, i know as i'm a worrier too!

I hope you get some answers soon. x
