Blood test and time of day

Posted , 10 users are following.

I wonder if the time of day makes any difference to the blood test results. I've managed to get to 10mg at the second attempt using dsns and thought it was successful. I've decided to stay here for a while but after a few weeks I'm beginning to get morning stiffness. I'm due a blood test soon and just wondered whether the results would vary according to the symptoms. By the afternoon I feel fine again. Thanks for your input

Very good point...  hate to see doctor when I’m not in pain, and have to describe how I felt yesterday.   I don’t know what shows up in blood work, but last time i  was when I was in kinda bad pain:.:: showed up, and I was taken seriously 🤔.

It sounds as if now you have reduced to your current limit the antiinflammatory effect of the pred isn't quite lasting 24 hours.Or you may be just a fraction of a mg too low to clear out all the inflammation every day and it has built up. You could try taking 11mg every few days and see if that helps - just to clear out the left-overs...

Thank you. Yes, I think I'll try the 11mg every few days - I have some 1mg in anticipation of going to 9mg, but I need to get more symptom free before I even consider that.

Dr did not mess around. Increasing to 15.   Then when I have new bloodwork done, to check for hepatitis... before I get on methotrexate.

Hi again, I've taken 11mg for 2 days and back to 10mg today, with great effect, stiffness resolved. I'm not quite sure how to proceed from here so would value your input please when you have a moment. Thank you as always

If it were me I'd take 10mg for a few days and then 11mg for one day, 10mg for a few days, 11mg for one day for a while - and see how often you need the 11mg to keep un-stiff. What about trying 6 days 10, 1 day 11, take the 1 on the same day every week - it took a while for the stiffness to return didn't it? It's just so important to stop it really getting a hold - then you risk a real flare.

The other thing could be, because you are feeling better and your pred dose is down, you are starting to do a little too much and PMR is letting you know it's still active.

Thank you Anhaga. I will bear that in mind although so far I seem to have been one of the lucky ones who can continue to exercise as much as I like. In fact, trust me to be awkward but I've actually done less exercise this past week as I'm on holiday with relatively inactive friends - strange!! Maybe I'm just opposite to everyone else. Trust me!!

I’m useless in the morning .  And mornings are creeping into afternoons😆😆.  Been increased to 15 , and wondering if that will decrease my C-reactive protein enough to stop the methotrexate.

Sorry, probably on my own tangent!

I do take 10 in the am, and 5 late afternoon.  Do have 1 msg that I’ll take in the middle of the night if I start cramping up.  Good luck 🍀
