First rule of thumb-never Google. It will only make anxiety worse.  I know because I've done it. Best thing to do is educate yourself.  Get second opinions from different doctors.  I just got on this chat site yesterday and asked a question about iron avidity and was told to take aspirin.  So moral of story is that we are not doctors and a lot of people think that they are.  I found that educating yourself with help of specialist( gastro) you will be relieved.  Everybody's ferritin is different and did you fast.  They will probably recheck in a month.

Hi Zach, not sure if you are knocking what I said about aspirin or not. I did not TELL you to take aspirin.  I told you what I experienced when I tried aspirin.

No, we are not doctors, and we don't think we are.  We can only talk about what works for us.  I merely wanted to thin down my blood so that my venesections were not so arduous (2 hrs and 4 attempts - drinking lots of water not helping).  The results were a bonus.

HH affects everyone differently and some of us suffer with complications more than others.  If you are not suffering, then just do what works for you.

Try not to worry. I was in exactly the same position as you last year and I to have health anxiety. I convinced myself after googling to much that I had all sorts of medical conditions relating to haemochromatosis when I in fact had none. After receiving the diagnosis I saw a specialist he told me that it is a perfectly treatable condition if caught early which it was. My ferritin was 407 and would have required venesection if I hadn't fallen pregnant a month later. Pregnancy reduced my iron stores without the need for venesection so I now just need three monthly blood test for a year to monitor my levels. The   Haemochromatosis society produce a excellent handbook on the condition it's well worth a read.
