To know whether one has diabetes or not ? What test to take in these below mentioned tests... Am confused which one to take among these... Suggest one... Pls ...
1.Random blood glucose level.
2.Fasting blood glucose level.
3.The HbA1c blood test.
4.Oral glucose tolerance test.
5.Capillary blood glucose (home monitoring).
6.Urine test for blood sugar (glucose).

I suppose they all work to a point but the HbA1c is the gold standard I think. Ask your GP/nurse for it to be done on the NHS. However it doesn't apply if you are pregnant or if type 1 diabetes is suspected.

I was diagnosed Type 2 a few years ago. Can't remember what test I had. Best thing is to go to GP and say you think you might have diabetes please can they test you and they will know what tests are most accurate.
I know I had 2 fasting tests before I actually had a test that diagnosed me.
