Bloodwork question

Posted 15 minutes ago

My egfr has been getting lower, from 74 to 68 now 64.

My Albumin/creatinine -normal is <2.0

Mine is 38.8?

My potassium is high

Normal- 3.5 to 5.2

Mine is 5.4.

My albumin urine is 93 mg/L

creatinine (urine) normal is 2.5 to 2.0

Mine is 2.4

Albumin/creatinine normal is - <2.0

Mine is 38.8

What does all this mean.

My Doctor will call with an appointment when she reads these but I'm curious on your thoughts. Should I be concerned. We have kidney disease/diabetes in my family history..

It looks as though you have a mild dysfunction of your kidneys.  Can I ask how old you are?  If you are elderly, than it is actually normal for your kidneys to slowly lose normal function over time.  If you are younger, than I would have your doctor look into it more, although some doctors will not refer to a specialist until kidney function is pretty low, I would imagine it would be best to look for the cause now, rather than waiting for them to get worse.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I'm 49.

Maybe it's just the normal aging process then...
