I went to per 4 yrs ago and couldn't squeeze a drop tried several times that day with no luck finally when I did I peed a lot then followed for the first time with some blood it was the first time and came with no warning. 1 year later I had a bladder biopsy die to the bleeding getting worse it was negative they called it prostatitis gave me antibotics that was 2012 sense then I would have flare ups that if I laid down would ease the symptoms did that for over a year I could be very physically active for 2 3 or 4 days seldom more than I would get a feeling like the burn of a sprained wrist in my pelvis if I didn't listen and go lay down it would ramp up I got dark urine and it would be difficult to pee and I could only get a few burning and bloody drops. Go lay down and stay in bed 12 to 24 hours and would be ready to go for another few days it started getting worse to the point I would get irritation by just standing walking driving and setting for 45 min or so now I have been bedridden sense dec 16 to today April 16 will be 4 months during this time I had a bad bleed feb 3 thru 8 non stop I thought I was going to bleed to death at home with no insurance finally I went to the hospital thinking they would admit me they put 2 bags of saline in me flushed large clots out of my bladder and gave me a shot in my ass and sent me home bleeding march 1 I got Obama care and went to the doc on the 6th he couldn't believe the pictures of blood loss and videos in a hot tub passing clots he had a blood work up done and my PSA was 0.5 prostate is large soft and boggy with no hard spots I'm waiting now for a appointment with a urologist for a ultrasound and go from there now still bedridden with clear urine unless I stand up and stay up a while urine starts to darken and start toward bloody if I don't get down sorry for the long post but would like to know if I'm some kind of freaky alien because all the prostatitis blogs I read I don't hear blood loss like me also laying down bothers a lot of guys and standing is better for most Your thoughts PLEASE because we all know the doctors don't have a clue and good luck getting a prostectomy unless your on your death bed also I read the more affordable turps won't cure prostatitis but a total removal will AGAIN your thoughts? Thanks for reading my post and best of luck to all touched by this retched condition !

Whilst I understand you feel the doctors you have seen have not been of help, and thus your view that doctors don't have a clue. The point is you need to see the right type of doctor. And as Kermac has said, you need to see a doctor who is specialising in your problem. In this case, a urologist.

It is possible that it is a kidney problem - hence needing a nephrologist to look at you - but less likely than a urological one.
You've hit upon a too-common problem - the experts are often not that expert. I had a similar problem with my bladder cancer - it took 4 '2nd' opinions before I got one that gave me a chance (the others had told me I'd be dead in weeks or maybe months - that was over 7 years ago). There is problem of you being in the USA rather than the EU (where most health care is free at the point of delivery), but hopefully Obamacare will help now.
