Blotchy red rash/irritated skin on penile head (lasted for over 3 moths now)?

Posted , 410 users are following.

Part of the skin on the head of my penis has become slightly red and is causing some pain/irritation.

It first appeared the day after I used a condom so I think I must have had a reaction to the latex or some other substance in the condom.

The tip of the penis became super sensitive and noticeably hurt whenever it touched my underwear.

The skin was and still is noticeably red close to and directly around the meatus. This redness gets worse and bigger after I've come out the shower or masturbated.

An hour or so after ejaculation, I get a slight burn/irritation at the very end of the urethra when I urinate and this can last for a few days before subsiding. This has put me off from masturbating as much now.

This has lasted for about 3 months now with no signs of improvement.

I saw a doctor and was prescribed timodine/hydrocortisone cream and this didn't have much effect and am slightly worried it may just make things worse so have stopped using it for now.

It almost seems as if the redness comes from within the skin rather than on the surface.

I don't think its balanitis as I haven't had that for over 12 years when I was a kid and that was with the usual smegma discharge etc, whereas this is just redness.

I've attached images to show how it looks straight after showering, which is when the redness is at its worst and the contrast between the normal skin colour and the redness can be clearly seen.

HPV types 16, 18 or other “high risk HPV” (12 pooled types include: 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66 & 68) are potentially oncogenic, which means they can cause cancerous tumors at the body site where they were identified. If you test positive for these types of HPV, especially the vagina, oral cavity or anus, it is vital that you be examined by a qualified medical professional who specializes in that body site. Testing as often as twice a year may be necessary to ensure that the virus is no longer present or that oncogenic changes have not occurred.

So those are my results. I am certain that the inflammation and symptoms are caused by the HPV. I am following a strict HPV diet ( mostly from a female cervical dysplasiastandpoint if you do the research - but my thinking is this is really one in the same and is on the penis glans in men rather than the cervix in women) . One thing that seems to help is high doses of Tumeric (about 8+ grams day - 12- 750mg tablets). As well as lots of garlic, and AHCC.

I am not promoting any products/testing - it is hard to find testing for HPV in men. I did personally use the selfcollect website for testing. I am not providing a link so you can all know I am not trying to profit - just working to share information in hopes we can figure this out.

I am working with the best docs at Mayo Clinic to figure this out and will update you all as I find out more. Many oncology (cancer drugs) drugs have anti-viral/anti-hpv properties. I am currently pushing for Vorinostat (google Vorinostat and hpv) as a treatment strategy to at least try (7K for one month if not covered on insurance).

More to follow as I learn more.

    Best.

Could you share a picture of your oral symptoms? I want to see if they look like mine.

I started off with a bit of a cough and flem about 6 months ago. Then about a month later I noticed I was having trouble swallowing so I used my phone light and saw very bad inflammation in the back of my throat. First I was given antibiotics and at first it seemed like it was helping. But by the end of the treatment it was still there. I was tested for strep which came back clean. I went to an ENT 3 weeks ago and he didn't think it was cancer and gave me medicine for inflammation and for acid reflux. Since starting this new treatment I have seen little improvement so far. On my next visit I will be asking for a biopsy and to test for HPV. I hadn't seen this thread at the time of my visit so the topic of HPV never came up. I have added a link with a photo of my throat. It was a bit more inflamed than average in this photo.

hi mate, i dont think i have the same throat symptoms, mine is just really veiny (small red veins) of late.. I could be over thinking!

its annoying there are so many of us who have these symptoms and no one can answer..

i mean HPV is warts right? youd think if you were infected with someone they would just pop up...

my penis is definitley blotchy and iritated..

Phils, I'm in the same boat as you. Wanted to do throat biopsy, got some treatment for reflux instead.

However I have been tested for hpv in urethra, came back negative. Don't think those swab tests are very reliable for men though.

And your throat looks the same as mine in my picture?

I'm curious if we have anything in common. I had protected sex a month or so prior with a new partner. I did not perform oral sex but she did on me. I became very worried about a STI even before any symptoms, I'm a bit of hypochondriac. I have had stomach issues for about a year prior (definitely not STI related), I had a colonoscopy done probably a week or so prior to noticing both the dry blotchy penile skin and the throat issues. Lastly back when I was young I used to get almost daily sore throats from post nasal drip. That resolved many years ago after I had my tonsils removed and got allergy shots. I mentioned this to my ENT but he said he didn't see any drainage. I also don't remember what my throat looked liked back then when I was little. I've been checked for everything but HPV multiple times. I was even sure to get tested during the ideal window for detection after exposure.

I'm going to insist on a biopsy this time. I'm really thinking HPV, allergies or further stomach related issues triggered by my colonoscopy, or maybe even some autoimmune thing triggered by stress and anxiety, which came before the symptoms. Please let me know if anything solves your issue or you find the problem.

The self collect (not sure if the rules allow me to mention the website but the name self collect says it all...) tests for HPV are cost wise are about $120 for each area - you can do oral and genital or just one area. I did both. They mail you the kits and you sample at home. For the genitals you scrub with a brush to loosen some cells and then place the brush in a transport fluid. For the mouth you use a swab and swab the gums, cheeks, what not and then place in a tube to return for processing. Took about 1 week to get back the results. One of my tests can back "indeterminate" meaning the sample was not great and they sent me a free kit to retest. I found out that I am actually positive for HPV-68 & HPV-82 - these are both high risk types (long term infection can lead to cancer) And of course you get to cancer via chronic inflammation - caused by the HPV. It's pretty simple when you think about it. 99+ percent of cervical cancer is caused by HPV and these strains also cause penal, anal, and oral cancers. Google HPV Diet and HPV Supplements and there are things you can do that I found have helped. As I Mentioned before, the main thing that helps me - not a cure - but helps is 8 MG a day of turmeric. You will see research when you google HPV and Turmeric about its anti-HPV properties. I do not want to get flagged so I am not posting links. Is that allowed? If so I will post links to peer reviewed scientific research(not a junk site selling something). LOTS OF HPV research happening now and even some success killing it - clinical trails happening. The good news is that we may be just a few years from a cure for HPV related conditions. In the mean time the best thing you can do is find things that keep the inflammation at a min. BTW, I also find that a quality CBD oil applied directly helps.

My throat bounces back and forth between almost normal to looking much like yours. I do new know that I am HPV-68 and 82 positive orally(see my other recent posts). In my case, I am certain that my condition is caused by the HPV as it started about 3 months after a new partner. HPV did not come up during the first "pre sex" talk as her doc told her that HPV is so benign that there is no reason to mention it... She has had two HPV surgeries ( cervical dysplasia ). The same thing that causes the cervix to become inflamed causes other mucosal tissues to become inflamed as well.

i would say in 5 years HPV and HSV will both be curable...Now they have conquered aids which was everyones epidimic now they can focus on the next virus

Yes, my throat is inflamed. There is some smart name for the condition, I don't remember now. But in simple words that means something like chronic inflammation. It does not hurt at all, I just accidentally noticed it. So I guess more guys could have the same condition, they just haven't looked.

I see you've done some research on HPV. Do you have any opinion about Nick LeRoy? Reviews of his book look to good to be true, as well as some stories in forums.

is your foreskin pink and veiny? like spider veins? I have only just started noticing i have small tiny veins that branch out around my foreskin, the skin is very pink/shiny.

Did not pay much attention before everything started. So I'm not sure if it normal or not.

I never heard of him but did some research. My job is in the sciences and tend to take an approach that reflects that.

My research found that he is profiting but not proving...

      See this link:

I am all about great nutrition and supplements that have some pier reviewed studies behind them. But there are all to many "snake oil salesmen" that just want to profit from folks facing health challenges...

So assuming it's HPV for at least some of us... Has anyone tried 1000 mcg of vitamin B6 and B12 I believe it is? They have been shown to help clear HPV .
