Blotchy red rash/irritated skin on penile head (lasted for over 3 moths now)?

Part of the skin on the head of my penis has become slightly red and is causing some pain/irritation.

It first appeared the day after I used a condom so I think I must have had a reaction to the latex or some other substance in the condom.

The tip of the penis became super sensitive and noticeably hurt whenever it touched my underwear.

The skin was and still is noticeably red close to and directly around the meatus. This redness gets worse and bigger after I've come out the shower or masturbated.

An hour or so after ejaculation, I get a slight burn/irritation at the very end of the urethra when I urinate and this can last for a few days before subsiding. This has put me off from masturbating as much now.

This has lasted for about 3 months now with no signs of improvement.

I saw a doctor and was prescribed timodine/hydrocortisone cream and this didn't have much effect and am slightly worried it may just make things worse so have stopped using it for now.

It almost seems as if the redness comes from within the skin rather than on the surface.

I don't think its balanitis as I haven't had that for over 12 years when I was a kid and that was with the usual smegma discharge etc, whereas this is just redness.

I've attached images to show how it looks straight after showering, which is when the redness is at its worst and the contrast between the normal skin colour and the redness can be clearly seen.

No scar. Earlier biopsy under neath head no scar either. One down the shaft a little brown scar.

My rash varies a lot. Bump to left meatus most constant.

It doesn't look like LP pics on internet but by meatus or mucosa it is often bright red.

Does anyone also have a post urination dribble problem? I am not sure if it could be related to my other problems

Same here. Obviously related to the problem.

Do you have a theory about the possible causes? I have three different symptoms going on, all came at the one time. Inflammed penis, mouth ulcers and post urinatiion dribble.

it starts with that then i thought i didnt have lot of mouth ulcers though. just for a week and it was gone. but inflammation existed. pelvic pain slightly. i think its some kind of HPV or could be postharis

I think that hpv is the underlying problem which is causing the conditions too. It is baffling to me that so many of us have the same problem, but there is no solutions.

Have you had any tests done or seen a GP or specialist?

I have read that various conditions (including Lichen sclerosus) can narrow the urethra and meatus and cause dribbling and urinary retention.

Eventually, if a condition like LS isn't controlled, it requires surgery. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4518363/

    Other conditions have similar impact.

      jjb,

I guess you already begun your topic treatment, how is it going so far ?

He wanted me to do clobetasol twice yesterday, twice today and then 5 days Elidel (generic) and medium strength steroid.

So far the right side looks a lot better. The left side had the suture taken out and is still raised. The left meatus has been the real problem through all treatments. When I put the clobetasol on it gets red and then calms down. I will report back.

BTW, I think Elidel is good. It was really expensive but there is now a generic. No fear of steroid thinning either.

The first pic here is morning before treatment began. The other pic is this morning (after two topical treatments yesterday).image image

"I think Elidel is good"......... I'd agree.

As per my last post, I've been using for about 2 weeks now and I've actually stopped because the issue on my hand has cleared up. Was dealing with that break out for a few months, it would flare up and flare down but just couldn't kill it.....significant improvements within a week of using Elidel.

You're not even supposed to use it for a bacterial infection (it's more geared towards autoimmune issues) but eh, it definitely helped so whatever. That combined with x3 antibotic ointment seems to do the trick for me so far on any breakouts....

Super awesome to see your progress. Keep us posted.

Reverse order. Second pic was before, first pic after.

HOWEVER take this with grain of salt because I have seen deceptive skin clearing with steroid before and it didn't last

Interesting. Let's wait for a few more days of treatment.

I have an apointment tomorrow with another dermatologist.

Will make a post with pictures afterwards.

How did your appointment go? Any pics afterwards?

I am going to a female dermatologist who deals with vulvar rashes. There are many vulvavaginal disorder clinics in the USA but they knew of nothing for men in this big city. So I hope her expertise with women will help.
