Blotchy red rash/irritated skin on penile head (lasted for over 3 moths now)?

Posted , 410 users are following.

Part of the skin on the head of my penis has become slightly red and is causing some pain/irritation.

It first appeared the day after I used a condom so I think I must have had a reaction to the latex or some other substance in the condom.

The tip of the penis became super sensitive and noticeably hurt whenever it touched my underwear.

The skin was and still is noticeably red close to and directly around the meatus. This redness gets worse and bigger after I've come out the shower or masturbated.

An hour or so after ejaculation, I get a slight burn/irritation at the very end of the urethra when I urinate and this can last for a few days before subsiding. This has put me off from masturbating as much now.

This has lasted for about 3 months now with no signs of improvement.

I saw a doctor and was prescribed timodine/hydrocortisone cream and this didn't have much effect and am slightly worried it may just make things worse so have stopped using it for now.

It almost seems as if the redness comes from within the skin rather than on the surface.

I don't think its balanitis as I haven't had that for over 12 years when I was a kid and that was with the usual smegma discharge etc, whereas this is just redness.

I've attached images to show how it looks straight after showering, which is when the redness is at its worst and the contrast between the normal skin colour and the redness can be clearly seen.

Have any of you had a Cystoscopy by a urologist to see if they can pin-point the problem?

ive done a cystoscopy and everything was normal. i too have the red blochy penile head and was having pain in the penile tip as well bit that seems to only last for a day or so if i masterbate more than once a day. the thing bothering me the most is the skin in my groin and scrotum. my skin when moist becomes sticky/ tacky and feels raw even tho there is no rash present. it started out looking like chafing, but even after the redness went away the pain still is there. i have been treated for inverse psorisis, exzema. ive tried all sorrs of lotions and creams. ive had a CT scan, ive had an ultrasound. havent had an mri yet bjt have been seeing a physical therapist for pelvic floor which is why i think i dont have as much penile pain but it hasnt helped the skin at all

Well I think I found my answer, at least for the penile issues (not my throat). I believe mine was prostate related and a side effect of the propecia I was taking. I have been off it for almost a month now and the blotchiness has improved dramatically (probably 90%). If any of you are on any form of finasteride (Proscar or Propecia) I reccomend considering taking a break to see if things improve. Even if you aren't taking the drug I would consider getting your prostate checked as it could be some form of prostatitis causing a similar reaction.

I will keep you all updated if things change one way or the other. I hope this helps at least some of you and keep everyone updated if it does.

hey, everyone! i had been suffering from the same issues as all of you for about 4 months. I had been tested for all stds and sti's even diabetes and allergies and all came back clear. tried all the creams and took some uti tablets just incase it helped. I had my penis swabbed with no bacteria or fungal present. I was just about to lose all hope as I've looked all iver the intrenet to no avail... until! I seen someone on Reddit say that they stopped masturbating and it cleared up after a month and after 2 it was completely cleared up. I'm not sure if its a cure all for everyone, but I stopped masturbating for a couple of weeks now ( 2 relaspes) haha. but, it has seemed improve by a massive amount! my skin is almost cleared up and feels soft and smooth again. I also used some aloe vera for healing properties, but I'm not sure if that was made the big difference, but no masturbating has made a huge difference! I have booked for a dermatologist at the end of the month, but I think i may not have too!

Has anyone with these symptoms completed some form of treatment for a yeast or fungal infection? That seems to be a likely cause in many of these scenarios and would cause the oral symptoms. Also consider the oral symptoms could have come from any antibiotics taken. If a fungal infection is not the problem, you may also try being tested for auto immune anti bodies because that can also potentially be triggered by an initial infection.

    Hi,

I'm having the exact same issue, had unprotected sex then the rash came up, went and got it checked out, they gave me Canesten because it had symptoms of thrush, even took an oral tablet. Tried that for two weeks, no luck. Then I was prescribed Eumovate, tried this for another two weeks, nothing. Went back to the doctors and was sent to the STI clinic, got a full check, blood test and everything, even a urethral swab and this turned out to be all clear. The "professional" had a good look at my penis and told me that everything looked fine and recommended to bath it in salt water for 2 weeks. Tried this and again... nothing... went back and told him the rash was still showing up (seems to pop up in waves and after sex or masturbation.) so he prescribed me Betamethasone Valerate this made things f*****g worse. I went back to the doctors and now i'm currently trying Timodine for 2 weeks.

It seems to be an underlying rash (under the skin) and then pops up whenever its aggravated in some way? This has been going on for 4 months now, its stressing me out, I cannot enjoy my sex life, masturbating just burns for an hour or two afterwards and in general its degrading. The doctor i'm seeing currently will send me to get some more checks, if this Timodine doesnt work. I will be sure to let you guys know of anything that works because this is ridiculous. Peace.

Its like a red blotchy rash under the skin, with paler patches, so they could be the white patch?

I've been dealing with this foe 9 months. Sex is almost impossible, so the desire has really isn't there which I'm so upset about. So far I've seen 3 different doctors and 1 urologist and non of them can figure it out. I've been given Amoxicillin, Bactrim, Doxycyclin, Zpak, Flowmax and Oxybutynin. Also a few different topical creams. Been told to take warm baths as well. None of this has helped. I'm out of ideas and it looks like I have no other choice but to give up.
