I applied for a blue badge and got it, took about two months to get it but it is really helpful while im waiting for surgery. My badge only lasts a year though, but fingers crossed ill have my surgery and be back to normal'ish by then smile

It is ridiculous but each Councel seems to set its own rules.   I have the misfortune to live in a borough that turns more people down than almost any other - Swansea - and of course I was turned down.   However I appealled and eventually got it.

I enquired about a blue badge and was told they didn't give them out for hip replacements. They only gave them out for permanent disability and a hip replacement is curable.  It does seem that it is local authority specific. I have to say we shopped later and used the disabled spaces anyway until I was able to walk properly.

I'm definately going to try and get a temp one for when I get my left hip done. Getting out of the car in standard spaces has been particularly troublesome, even 10 weeks done the line....

I am very fortunate and have been given one for 3years! Perhaps this is because am 70. I applied on line and only answered the questions honestly.i live in Lancashire.

I was given a blue badge straight away when I applied. I don't know whether it's because of my age, 70, or because I have OA and have had other problems. You can try and I wish you luck. It makes it easier for parking.
