blue badge refused.

Hi everyone. ...I had a bilateral hip replacement 3 years ago and as a result I thankfully applied for and received a blue badge. I went along to brighten and hove council two weeks ago for an assessment and was told today that it has been refused.

I really can't understand why. My mobility is still not great..im in pain when standing for two long and can't walk for great distances I am at a loss as to why it's been taken away...

Any advice or appeals tips from you guys on here..im really upset.

Roy

Thanks for the encouragement aj60 it's very frustrating. The person doing the assessment was completely cold without making any eye contact..It was like the Spanish inquisition. I will appeal most definitely!

What is a blue badge mean?

Hi ginger47520 a blue badge means that you are registered disabled. It allows you to park in allocated parking spaces etc

Hello Roy! Sorry to hear your news! I would urge you to appeal! Also go and ask your gp to write a letter on your behalf! How about you make an appointment to see the consultant who operated on you? Get him to asses you as well! Hope this helps! Regards Amanda

Hi Amanda thanks for the advice. That is a really good idea with letters from my surgeon and gp. The assessment is now done by an independent company bought in by my local authority. ..very detached and cold. I really couldn't belive that it was refused. On the mobility assessment I was out of breath perspiring and clearly struggling and the stair climb was no joke. So frustrating.

Hi Roy. Sorry to hear you are still in pain.

I am waiting for my R THR. I successfully applied for PIP, previously known as DLA so I applied for a blue badge, my council (Southend on sea) only give out Blue badges if you receive the Highest level or are awarded the element which means you can walk up to 20 -50 meters. I would check the blue badge rules and limits to see if you need to be on PIP. Good luck.
