Blue lips

Hi everyone

I am really needing some support. For years now i have been suffering with blue lips it was always put down to anxiety. I even bought a pulse oximeter to check my oxygen levels when it happened always 98%. Over the last month or so it as become worse and my lips start to tingle because of it now they go that blue. I dont have any other symptoms like dizzy or breathlessness at the time so the doctors have said raynauds although he said its unusual for it to affect the lips so much when my bloods have come back ok. I have experienced a few toes going white before but only about 3 times which also makes them think raynauds. It is really gettin me down now i have had heart test a breathing test and nothing obvious but im so worried its my heart. Im so worried about this. I dont know what else to do...i wondered os it normal for the lips to be affected? I have read stress can trigger raynauds too and this as been extremely high. Im just petrified something bad will happen to me and doctors are ignorning it because of my anxiety.

I keep telling myself if it was serious surely i would experience other symptoms too. I just dont understand whats going on but im so scared.

Thanks for reading

Zoe

Hi Zoe I would get a second opinion even if it's just peace of mind for you as your stress levels get high you make things worse & start to worry I got a second opinion when I had a bad leg and my toe was turning black I was told Raynaulds & put on high dose of nifidipine after six months I went somewhere else and was rushed into surgery as the artery in my leg had almost closed & couldn't pump blood to my foot they put a stent in my leg back in May and I'm still not quite right but better than I was my toe had turned gangreen but I was lucky it has started to dry up and no thanks to my first doctor ive managed to not have amputation so always best to get second doctor or even third doctor to get the answers you need & your happy xxx good luck

Omg that sounds awful. So was it not raynuads then. Didnt no arterys could just close up thats bad. So pleased you have sorted it. I have gone back to docs and he rambled on about circulation. I showed him pictures and he is referring me to a specialist...something starting with O lol so got to wait for the appointment. Thank for your response. They kinda make me feel like im crazy but i got the pictures to show them. He doesnt think its heart related tho which is why i am worried so much. Will just have to see what happens.

      Thanks again

      Hi Vicky,

Not only does that sound awful, it sounds neglegent!  All the docs I ahve had I would put into that catagory. If I did my job as badly as the docs I've had, I would never have a job.

I see this post is 3 months old, how are you doing now?

Hi Dee the good news is I've not lost my toe the gangrene has gone but I've a very sore hard piece of skin in place so can be uncomfortable at times but I'd sooner that pain than the pain I've been in. Thank you for asking X still got a way to go but really lost all faith in doctors now which isn't good x

Glad your toe is healing!  What an unnecessary PAINFUL ordeal.  I am so sorry you have togo through that.  Doctors will have to do some serious changing for me to ever trust them again.

My husband saw his doc for 6 months with terrible symptoms, they said he had allergies, all of a sudden, never had them before.  SYMPTOM of cancer.  He was a vet in Vietnam, no brainer.

We pulled up carpet, made the cat stay outside; he didn't get better, only worse. The docs never figured it out untill he had two large lumps that appeared in his groin area and was losing weight, 7 pounds in 6 days. NHL (a common lymphoma caused by agent orange), they see it all the time in the VA. It is too hard to fire doctors, and there are too many getting away with murder.

      GER! I am so angry!

    Hi Zoe,

Unfortunately, we are all going to get sick and eventually die, it is a part of being a living creature, it happens to the best of us 😨

I get blue lips on occasion, I really do not know why.  I thhink you are right not to trust the doctors, I was pushed away all my life, only to find out I have celiac disease, polymyositis and raynauds.

If you've not been checked for CD, I recommend everyone on the planet get it. Has your iron been checked? If it is low, it could cause blue lips.

Hang in there and keep trying!

i also have blue tinge on my lip a friend of mine who works as a medical assistant suggested i get checked with a Dr. because it came right after my surgery there could be a chance that the tube inserted in my mouth for anesthesia (pretty sure I spelled this wrong) it might of done some damage and its dead tissue, anyone know if there is a name for that and if that is a possibility?

this is exactly whats happening to me. mine started after a run and i have an oxometer and it was at 98%, i felt totally fine. went to doctor he ran tests and theres nothing except raynauds. its spiked my anxiety so so much though. i cant run anymore for fear it will happen again and when i check my lips they sometimes? have a bluish tint maybe? i cant tell anymore. but horribly anxious and my doc told me to go a head and run that its fine. im sorry your going through this too. youre def not alone! hugs

    Hi,

i had no idea people had recently replied. i have had a huge panic attack today, well what I believe to be. my lips went sooo blue and my fingers white, it surely cant be heart related because being that would mean I wouldnt be breathing. dont get me wrong I was breathless but not how i should have been. It was odd, like I was breathing but it felt mentholated, which I have experienced once before that extreme and it was my 1st ever panic attack. my lips also go blue when I am cold but I was tested and came back negative, which was years ago. i think I need to get it looked at again though, as stress seems to be the trigger.

    its so depressing. diazepam helped
