blurred vision with Cimzia or Humira

I have been on Cimzia a few months and now I am all of a sudden having issues with blurred vision esp in the morning but not all the time.   I did see my specialist this AM and she seemed alarmed.   I am seeing eye doc next week so she wants a report back if any eye conditions noted by opthamologist.   I do have a corneal dissease so I want that checked out before we decide if Cimzia is the cause.   Always something it seems!

    Hi Gloria

I 'm about to start on Cimzia . Are you on any other drugs for RA or your Corneal problem? The reason I ask is that I have RA and recently have noticed the same symptom.. I.e. Blurred vision 1 st thing in the morning when all my symptoms are at their worst for the day !!

I would be very interested to hear what your Eye specialist has to report... in case it's another nasty facet of this rotten disease.

I think they should change it's name to Rheumatoid Syndrome as the Arthritis boy gives people the wrong idea about the condition... As we know TOO well your joints are only 'The tip of the Iceberg !!!

Does Cimzia work for you? Have you had any other side effects ??

        Hi Catherine

I hope you have started on the Cimzia and that you see some benefit and no side effects from the drug

I did see the eye specialist today.   She believes that the blurry vision is more related to my corneal disease and not a side effect of the Cimzia.   She advised an eye drop for the blurry vision but it is something used for the corneal issue so not something you would use.   I do hope they are right on that issue

Still have some palpitations from the Cimzia and I think it has hopefully stopped some of the progression of the RA but I am starting again to get more pain in foot and hands so it may have stopped working now

I am due to take the shot in 2 days so maybe it is just that it is wearing off before the next dose

Good luck with the medication, hopefully it is the drug for you

     Hi Catherine

I am tolerating the Cimzia and it has brought relief of RA joint pain for the most part.  I had side effects from Humira so was happy to tolerate this similar drug.  I do have some heart palpitations on occas at night but not too bothersome.  Much worse with Humira.   No other side effects for now.  The doc thinks the blurred vision is related to the Cimzia.   Regarding other medication,  I also have Crohn's as another autoimmune disease so take one medication for that.  And 1 eye drop for corneal transplant , R eye.  My L eye has a cataract and I have a corneal condition for many yrs but never blurred vision.

I will report back what the Eye specialist finds next week.  Thanks for your response
