How are you getting on with the pre op diet? Which one are you doing?
If it's any help, my BMI was 46.6 and I had a band fitted on 24/10/14 & my surgeon said it all went smoothly.
Aslong as you stick to the pre op diet religiously I think you will be fine!
They wouldn't be going ahead with it if the professionals think it's too high! I also saw a lady when I was waiting for my consultation that was a lot lot bigger than me and she had the band a week before!

Basically I would recommend getting the following in advance.....
Windeze - as it's known to cause trapped wind in shoulder/chest as they pump you full of gas during the op and it's quite uncomfortable so you can buy a product which reduces this, I used windeze!
Benefibre - a fibre supplement powder which you can add to your drinks/soups etc to keep you erm.... Regular!
2 in 1 shampoo! - if your obsessed with conditioning your hair as much as I am then I would recommend this as you may not want to be in the shower for very long to start with and have to force yourself in the first few days!
Liquid multi mineral and vitamins! - self explanatory!
Finally, before you leave the hospital I would check that you are happy to take dissolvable (in water) pain killers, for me they made me really gag which was very painful due to op site, so if your not a fan of these the make sure your happy with your painkillers before you leave the hospital!
How much are you looking to lose? I'm 5ft 10 and was 23.3 stone, I've lost 3 stone now so it's made a little dent in my goal since October!
It's not easy but I don't regret it all!

Its ok you will be fine. Just follow the rules by the book and you will do fine. Remember to exercise too.

I'm booked in for my band op on 17th Jan
With regard to your BMI & the pre op diet I think from what I've read, the purpose of the pre op diet is to reduce the size of your liver which makes the procedure easier.
Rather than to reduce your BMI to a certain level.
Hope this helps and puts your mind at rest x
Good luck I'm right behind you!!!!
