Does anyone know what BMI a doctor can admit a person into a UK hospital and could this person refuse admission or be forced into admission?  Thanks

There isn't. Every mental health trust has its own threshold. There are also other considerations such as physical complications, risk, comorbidity etc.

The reason that you could be sectioned is based on risk to oneself or others.

If you are struggling and need to talk to someone, I really recommend speaking to the Beat Helpline, which is open every day of the year 3pm - 10pm. This is free to call. There are also some excellent resources, including a guidance leaflet for GP appointments. ?

It's usually based on blood test results rather than weight. Potassium deficiency is the most common cause of hospital admission if under weight.

Don't  know the threshold BMI but yes they can force you into treatment as eating disorders are a mental health issue (physical problems secondary) and you could be sectioned.

It sounds like your trying to avoid treatment.

Support for anything primarily psychological ie alcohol abuse, anxiety, eating disorders is really hard to come by untill you are trying to commit suicide so I would grab it with both hands.
