Bodily tired

Posted , 2 users are following.

I have had chronic insomnia for several years. I used to

cope with it and get through the day without a problem but now tiredness stays

with me. My temperature is normally below normal but now it is around 34.5 C.

When outside I feel the cold which is unusual for me but in the house I feel immediately

hot without my temperature going up more than a fraction. Same when I go to bed

I only have a sheet and two light cellular blankets I feel really hot. Apart from my arthritic knees and neuropathy in left leg caused by fluoroquinolones the rest of my body has felt achy for the past three months.

Has anyone else felt knackered like this ?

    Hi, Derek,

can't say I've felt any pain or hot/cold flashes, but I certainly feel less and less able to make it through the day on my insufficient sleep.

When I was younger, I could pull all nighters for school purposes, but now it's hard to function even with 6 hours, and I'm happy when I get 6.

I do feel slightly less able to handle cold, when I think about it, but the below average temperature and the hot feeling you describe I can't say I'm familiar with.

Maybe you can take something for that and for the aching feeling?

I googled insomnia and joint pain/general aches and many articles came up with the association.

Do you get six hour continual sleep or is it broken sleep ?

I get between 5 and 6, never quite 6. I go to sleep around 11, wake up between 4 and 5 and don't go back to sleep until nightfall again.

I know that 5.5 hrs is enough for some people, but I know it isn't enough for me because I look and feel dreadful.

      What about you?

4.5 hours is about my limit in three phases. First one is always exactly two hours

That sounds horrible. Do you nap any during the day?

I will never understand how our minds have such a precise internal clock to mess with us. I can also almost tell by the minute what time in the dead of night it is when I wake up.

I think you and I might have spoken before, Derek, but remind me - how old are you and how long has this been going on? Have you been to any doctors? I still haven't, I self-medicate with Valium and sometimes even a sip of vine to go with it. I know it's a terrible thing to do, but when I'm exhausted I just don't care.

'm 85 and had this back in the 1970's after a bad bout of what was then called Yuppie FlIu. Things later went back to near normality. I can't sleep during the day.

This started after heart valve replacement surgery in 2012 that I put down to having to sleep on my back. In actual fact it is probably caused by having been treated with Fluoroquinolone antibiotics as I had a prostate infection at that time. It initially caused tendonitis and I later had Cipro for a later prostate infection that I quickly stopped.

See Fluoroquinolone Toxicity syndrome topic many of the symptoms are similar to Yuppie Flu now known as chronic fatigue syndrome
