Body hair making me depressed.

Posted , 3 users are following.

I am 19 years old and am hairier than the average girl my age. I have chin hair and mild lip, abodmen, foot, arm and leg hair. I went to my GP who said that since I have regular periods and such that it doesn't have anything to do with PCOS or anything. I've read that as I age, the hair is going to get worse and worse, is that 100% true? I can handle the hair I have now as it's not too too bad, but the thought of it getting worse makes me even more depressed.

Thanks for any information.

You could try talking to a qualified beautician about getting laser treatment or using creams etc.

But please be very careful whoever you go to for the treatment : make your selection on their expertise and knowledge rather than on price and special offers.

They come into contact with people with all sorts of concerns and you'd be surprised at some of the stories that they tell, of women who have to come in on a regular basis for hair removal etc. yet when you see the women you cannot tell.

    best wishes

    Hi

You seem to be suffering from the same symptoms as if you had been in contact with some of the male hormone called testosterone.

It causes excess body hair in females.  it this is the case, your body hair should disappear when contact is stopped.  You may want to check with anyone you have been close to.

    Hope this helps.  Good luck

    Hi Lena

I have the same problem as yours but i am 17 years old.

I went to the doctors about it and they said that we cant give yu anything as you are young.

Have tried Veet and Nair products, but it is getting worser by it.

    Hello lena,

So sorry you are experiencing what you are, at your age no less.  There is a medical condition called heirsutism (question the spelling).  This is when a female has more than her share of hair growing wildly over her body.  I believe it is caused by a malfunctioning adrenal gland.  This probably is just only one of the reasons why some females grow excess hair throughout their bodies.  Only a qualified internist that addresses the inner organs can tell you for certain.  Just desired to throw this your way.  And do not take only one opinion from someone that is not a specialist in this area, as gosple truth.

A former wife, though older than you, had this same very problem.  That was her problem, is the reason I am aware of this condition in females in the first place.

Do hope you find a qualfied doctor that is satisfactory to you, and you recover from this malady.

    Warmest regards!
