However, it does fit one thing - I do remember that at some point before the PMR appeared I found that the deodorant I was using didn't seem to be working. I had already joined the gym I later left because of the PMR - I needed to go to one with a pool - and found that by thetime I had finished a class I stank despite having had a shower in the morning and used deo and this being fresh sweat - which shouldn't smell unpleasant.
I tried a couple of other deos, I'm very restricted as I can't use any with aluminium in them, and eventually gave up and relied on washing more! That must be more than 10 years ago now and I haven't used deo since. But now I never suffer from BO.
Using deodorant kills off the normal bacteria on your skin - both the ones that break down sweat to cause BO and the good bacteria that keep your skin healthy. It is a similar situation to taking antibiotics - kills all known germs, good and bad. If you don't use deodorant for some time the population of bacteria on your skin returns to normal and after a few months you don't actually develop BO as long as you wash without using strong soaps - you develop your natural body smell, like babies have.
As nefret says, the sweating is partly due to the PMR and partly due to pred - both can cause it. But I found that even with the extra sweating I didn't become smelly once I'd sorted out the deodorant problem! Wearing layers of clothes, so you can take a cardy off and just have a blouse for example, also helps. Nefret and I haven't worn socks for years - summer or winter! At this time of year I can't wear long trousers - capri length keeps me much cooler, it has to be quite chilly before the long ones come out. I wear summer tops all year - and keep a light scarf handy in case there is a draught round my neck. I use a shirt instead of a cardigan much of the time. And I have a fan next to my desk - if I get hot i switch it on for a while, not pointing directly at me but to create a draft in the room.
