Body tingles when touched.

Hi guys never done this before so bare with me...

Starting just over 4 years ago every single morning I get weird sensations whenever and wherever I'm touched. It only happens in the morning and will stop whenever I stand up. It can be my partner touching me or even my blanket brushing on me. The feeling gets stronger and stronger the more I'm touched. I have spoke to doctors and because I do suffer with anxiety they put it down to that. But after speaking to my therapist she said she has never heard of anything like it. Another doctor told me some people just get weird sensations and I have basically just been told to deal with it. But after 4 years now dealing with every single morning I just want to know someone else gets this? Is it something I am going to have to have the rest of my life? I'm 27 female!

It's so hard to explain to people eg my partner because it's not visable but it's very much real!

That seems like an odd symptoms to me, but if anxiety can cause sense to be heightened senses (I've had smell, taste, and hearing all turned up to 11 at times), then maybe it can affect your sense of touch too?

Just a thought, not a doctor etc. biggrin

You're being blown off. It's typical when you've had a diagnosis of anxiety. Literally could get into an. accident lose your leg and be told it's all just anxiety. But anyhow demand to see a neurologist, I guarantee this is a neuro issue going on that can easily be treated. Good luck.

So true, it actually makes my anxiety worst because I think they are going to just blame everything on it. What's neuro? Sorry if sound dumb lol

Hey Leila welcome! I do understand what you mean when you say others can't see it. The fact is, it's real for you and that's all that matters. I think it's true that anxiety can cause weird symptoms but this is obviously bothering you, for 4 years, every morning! It's all very well your doctor giving you an explanation however, that doesn't change anything for you-it's still there!. You shouldn't have to suffer this everyday. It would drive me mad! I would go back to my doctor and say : me having this every morning is having a huge negative impact on my life and its affecting my relationship with my partner as I can't bear to be intimate with them. Basically, I can't cope or deal with this anymore! Even if it is anxiety related, the doctor shouldn't ignore that and brush it off. Hopefully, they can give you something to help. So in answer to to question, yes it's normal to get weird symptoms related to anxiety. But no, it's not normal that you should have to endure this day in, day out. Good luck, Donna xxx

Thank you. I'm going to go back and try and get seen by a neurologist, read a bit about it after someone mentioned above and going to see if it helps at all. The reason I thought anxiety was because it started almost instantly after a very traumatic event. However my therapist said it's pure coincidence. One way I need to get to the bottom. You are correct it does have a impact on my relationship and I just can't have it forever. Thank you for your words it means a lot

Hey is that the only sensation is pins and needles or does it feel like something else?  Have you googled paresthesia??  It can be caused from a lot of different things....

It's similar to pins and needles but not quite it. It's really hard to explain it's kind of like electricity but not anything like an electric shock lol. Thanks will look into it
