Amazon have suggested The Polymalgia Rhematica Diet by Susan Parker and Polymyalgia Rheumatica: Causes, Tests and Treatments by John Hewitt. Has anyone read these and were they useful?

The books advertised on Amazon are a pretty mixed bunch! At least one of the ones I found had less in it than this forum and the Hewitt one can be summarised very quickly: no known cause, tests variable (it is basically a clinical decision on symptoms plus ESR and CRP) and treatments Prednisolone. I can't imagine how he could justify a whole book!

You can download samples of the books - click on the "look inside" bit on the illustration. It does often give you a good idea of how good or bad they may be.

But truly - you will find as much accurate and reliable medically backed info on this site and the PMRGCAUK northeast support site as any of these books and they are free.

Thank you Eileen and eveyone else who took the time to add their thoughts. As you say (and I suspected) there is much more help and information on this forum than in most books on the subject (with the honourable exception of Kate Gilbert's).

I just bought Kate Gilbert's survival guide - more to leave lying around than anything else. I have so much to tell the family about it but don't want to bleat on about it so I don't say anything!

Has anyone read "Autoimmune: the cause and the cure" by Annesse Brockley?

No to have I read - but I'd be very sceptical since as far as normal mainstream medical science is concerned there isn't cure for most things. I have no doubt it is a diet theory (or something similar)? With a whole ream of things to be marketed?
