Borderline - Can anyone help me?

Posted , 4 users are following.

Ok I've been a silly boy and slept with a few girls without protection, I pulled out but I don't think that makes a difference.

I have a girlfriend now so did a full set of tests, aids, everything.

I got a reading of 'borderline 0.88' for:

Abnormal (Positive) result:Genital Herpes (HSV2IgM)

I was terrified and my gf has some sort of thing inside her vagina. Doc says it could be from shaving but could be herpes. Obviously I feel bloody awful if she's got it from me as I've never, ever had any symptoms at all.

Now speaking to the clinic they tell me:

"

Herpes test is not positive.

More important Ig G test is negative.

Herpes Ig M is showing a borderline positive value.

The result obtained is neither positive nor negative.

This kind of result occurs in two situations:

1. 1. When the result is false positive

2.2. In very early stage of infection

So by repeating the test later, we will have more definitive answer."

So is it looking positive or do I have the early stages of it?

Any help would be so much appreciated, Thanks.

There's nothing anyone can tell you until you have a conclusive test. Make sure you go to a GUM clinic.

There is a possibility that catching it recently can give a mixed result since a test will search for anti bodies made by your body - so if it has not made many yet, may not show up properly.

Maybe wait for 2 or 3 months ?

If your doctor say you have it, then ask about the Shingles or Zoster vaccine

Hello and welcome to the forum! Too bad it wasn't under better circumstances. Now I'm not a doctor but I am a genital herpes victim.

I was diagnosed over a year ago and have had 7 outbreaks. I've documented every single one, done a lot of research and have joined forums. I FINALLY have my pattern of outbreaks figured out and am able to control my outbreaks/symptoms better!

This vicious blood sucking virus, is a bitch and that's putting it lightly. There is no true way to determine when and by whom, you've contracted herpes from. According to my doctor, only half of herpes victims actually show symptoms (outbreaks). The other half isn't so lucky and that's where I am. Then again some people only have mild symptoms and deem it something else. For example, a rash or pimple. The only true way to test fully positive for herpes, is when you think your having an outbreak, go to doctors immediately. When the doctor test the sores in their freshest stage, an accurate test result will occur.

If your girlfriend still has the bump on her lady parts, she should get it tested asap. In the mean time, refrain from sex. Best of luck and keep us posted. If you or your girlfriend are positive, I have some good remedies for controlling/minimizing outbreaks.

Hello! Sorry to hear you have this ducky virus. Hopefully one day there will be a cure but until then, all we can do is prevent, treat and soothe our outbreaks. I'm greatful these forums exist! I've found some useful information and remedies. I've devoted my time doing research and documenting my outbreaks, what I've used, what works and what doesn't.

That's great that your healthy and taking action towards fighting off outbreaks because that is the first step. All though there is no proof of stress causing outbreaks, I beg to differ. Stress is a HUGE trigger for me anyway. Also having a good immune system is key. You can take Valtrex everyday which will significantly reduce your chances of outbreaks and spreading the virus. I did this for 2 months straight and had no outbreaks! Not everybody wants to take a pill everyday, for the rest of their life. That included me. So I stopped and wanted to learn how my body would handle it. My doctor advised me to keep valtrex handy and when you start feeling those weird sensations between your thighs and buttocks, immediately start the valtrex. Take 3-5 pills for three days and 90% of the time an outbreak wont occur. I did test this method twice and both times it did work for me!

When you do have an outbreak, here are the remedies that work GREAT for me: as soon as you notice the sensations or blisters, clean area with witch hazel a few times daily. Witch hazel is a fantastic astringent and also helps soothe the itching. This also works as a great toner on your face (just had to add that lol). Epsom salt baths are a MUST and I do 3 a day when I have sores. After the bath use Aloe Vera gel straight from the leaf, is terrific for healing and soothing. I keep mine in the fridge and will soak it in cotton rounds, then put in between vagina lips, lay down and relax for a while. Can also do this at bed time. I love drinking green tea so after I make my cup of tea, I put the tea bags in the freezer for a little bit. Then take them out and apply them to my sores. Very soothing and great for healing!

I hope these tips will help you and anyone else who reads this! Just remember that this virus is very contagious, so be sure to wash your hands really good after touching affected area. If you shave downstairs, throw out your razor if your showing symptoms of an outbreak. After you soak in the bathtub, give it a good cleaning with bleach. As much as you want to, DONT ITCH, only makes it worse and will spread it. For ladies, avoiding wiping after you pee. Instead blot the area or use a peri-bottle with warm water (can add salt too) to clean area, then blot dry. Immediately put used towels in the washing machine rather than your laundry basket. Wash right away if possible. Studies show that herpes can't be contracted by a towel but play it safe. Good luck everyone and if you have other remedies that are not listed, please share! Thanks and God bless.

I'm recently new to this disease. I just found out that I am positive just a few days ago. I am still in denial. I had a hard time taking the news. It was so hard to take in that I threw up when my doctor informed me. 😢. I know this disease is more common than many May think. I know it will take time to get used to and comfortable in my own skin so to say. I was a decent person to tell my sexual partners. Like many people they have no symptoms and don't even know if they have it. So of course they are going to get tested. It hurts when you get this terrible news. I also think it's horrible that you have to tell that person you were intimate with. It made me feel disgusted and I feel sick to my stomach. Since this is very new to me and I just had my first outbreak which I am taking the medication. I would like to know if anyone on here is taking the medication on a daily dose just to help "breakouts" from happening and to help stop spreading it.

Hello Jessica and thanks for sharing. I completely understand what your going through. I too lost it when I first found out. I was also still breast feeding my daughter at the time and was scared I could pass it to her. My doctor assured me that herpes can only get passed through skin to skin contact. Lets be honest, having herpes is life changing and will take time to sink in. Your doing the right thing for you, by taking medication daily. The medication I take is Valtrex and has been very effective! Its NOT your fault that you contracted it. You didn't ask for it and your still the same person. Just educate yourself the best you can and be honest. The people who truly love you, wont think any less of you so hang in there girl!

Hello, for those of you interested in a way to suppress the outbreaks I take Acyclovir. It's really cheap and I just take a 200 milligram tablet a day and I have no outbreaks at all. There are absolutely no side effects either. If you are bashful about admitting to having herpes you can go to a health clinic and say you get bad cold sores, they will prescribe it to you for that since that's what the medication is primarily used for.
