Borderline hypo so stopped levo

Hi everyone last year I got diagnosed with subclinal hypothyroidism. I got put on levo. Well I can honestly say that after a year I've gained a stone despite serious exercise and dieting. Really strict stuff. So I'm aghast why that's happening. I don't feel any different being on levo than being off it so I've decided to stop taking it. I think I'm ballooning for no reason and I want to stop.

Instead I'm taking a thyroid support tablet as I'm only subclinical I believe that i can do witjout these tablets. Everyone is in shock at how much intense exercise I do and strict Dieting through Sw and i gain each week.

Hi, Leah,   i have been in the subclinical range for 10 plus years, and after medication need changes, i have had over a year off thyroid meds, i restarted a couple of months ago, and have gained  weight,  what were your blood test readings before you started meds and now? my thyroid hormone tests were in the ok range , but TSH 5.7 before re-starting, next tests are due in about a month

Sub clinical?   Is that like being a little bit pregnant, or a llttle bit dead?        Have you considered that the weight may be going on, not because of the thyroxine, but because of the lack of it?

once you are on medication you expect your tsh to be  1 or less and you want to see the free t4 and free t3 in the top  quarter of the range.     Go back to the surgery and ask for the blood test results.   You are entitled to these under the 1998 data protection act.    If you dont want to go back, write enclosing an sae, quoting the actand ask for all thyroid test results over tge oast 5 years.   You dont have to give a reason.

undertreatment is common.    Even once treated weight gain is much easier than weight loss.    :-(.

Nope range began at 5.7 started at 25mg then 50 then 100 then 150 nothing changed apart from weight abd tsh ended up at 0.02 I refuse to take it now cus it dud nothing but bring down my levels. I believe I have a conversion problem. So no matter how much t4 I get won't do anything as I need the t3

What was your hormone profile? i think you will find that that TSH is a bit too low, as TSH naturally changes through the day, and you may be dipping, and in danger of temporarily going hyperthyroid, and speeding your heart and losing bone.  keeping about 2.5 to 3.0 is fine, or not even treating at all, or keeping at around 4 TSH  if you are over 65 or 70, not treating is seen as an option now, after recent research suggesting the older person with slighly raised TSH survives longest, see science reports, 2015. One size does not fit all, depends on age, sex, weight, and detailed look at thyroid profile. I was, for years, on natural thyroid hormone, i do not think this solves everything, it was ok for years and now things for me may have changed, i do not know yet. i am back trying levothyroxine now.  None of the products cure the central problem, which is the autoantibody attack.  i try an anti-inflamatory diet.

you need to see your free t4 and free t3 numbers, to see if there is a low t3 and high t4.

if you cannot convert t4 into t3 it may be that you arent taking enough, or you might have shortages of vits nd minerals.    Stuff like, ferritn, iron,  selenuim,, viramins b12, d3   c

You can get a full thyroid panel plus  for less than £100 if you deal direct with the lab.      There are several accredited labs offering testing in the uk.    You can choose either a nlood draw, which you fet done yourself ( difficult) ir a fingerprick test....  Its a but more than just a fingerprick, but most if us manage it.      Look online for the twouk thyroid charities, both have links to testing on their websites.
