Borderline ovarian tumour

hi ladies smile I had my ovarian cysts removed just over a week ago via vertical laparotomy. The healing is going great so couldn't be happier with that.

However, I spoke to my Macmillan nurse yesterday and she has told me that the cyst results came back as borderline ovarian tumours. She said that due to me being 22 I don't need any further treatment at the moment but will need to have my ovaries removed once my family is complete.

I I was just wondering if anyone else has been through this ? I feel very in the dark with the limited information given to me. The nurse said she will post me a leaflet and I have an appointment with the cancer specialist in 6 weeks. Was just hoping someone could shed some light on what this all actually means.

Thanks you

Hiya, when I was 20 I had an emergency operation to remove a large cyst that turned out to be borderline. Other than a check up 6-8 weeks later, which was blood tests for tumour markers and an internal scan I never had anything further in the way of check ups. I have recently discovered I have another large cyst on my remaining ovary and have been rushed through due to the borderline nature of my first 11 yrs ago. I would say they r just being safe and keeping an eye on thing's to make sure it doesn't come back.

Hi there, I've been having abnormal bleeding, headaches, and now a sharp pain that escalates round for right arm out above right breast. Does anyone know what this could be? I see a specialist next week, but I'm pretty worried about this sharp pain I'm getting, could it be due to my hormones? Sorry I can't really comment on your thread because I do t know enough really I hope you get sorted.

    Hi Meg,

i had my 20cm cyst removed 3 weeks ago and just had the results of the biopsy - borderline ovarian tumor. I was asked what my intentions were with regards to having a family (I'm 39 and no intention to have any). I've been referred to an oncologist so seeing them in a few days but was told I'd need my other ovary out, hysterectomy and my appendix out. This has all come as a surprise as the surgeon had reassured me that what she took out looked benign. On one hand I'm so grateful it isn't cancer, but the thought of another big operation, early menopause, time off work etc. is worrying. Also, I'm not sure when this is likely to be, but I'm hoping to get some answers once I meet the oncologist.

I'd love to know how you have gotten on? How things went after?
